Clergy putting faith in a man and not in Christ?

Excerpt:

Hope being placed in a human being – any human being – even a president, is hope misplaced. As a Christian I can state with affirmation that hope exists in the person of Jesus Christ.
It’s a message the church has neglected to preach – and it’s a message
that is needed as much today as it was back in 1860. The clergy is
supposed to understand that message. But when asked about how to solve
the problems the black community is facing, I’ve never heard any
preacher say that the power to change and the power to clean one’s
proverbial slate is possible. It’s the message of redemption that only
Christ offers – it’s the “good news” or the gospel. You can be a new
creature in Christ. Where hope exists, hate can be overcome.

The Bible also teaches that there should be no division between us.
And it teaches that we are to forgive those who wrong us. It doesn’t
teach that we are supposed to hold a grudge against one generation for
the sins of another. There can be no healing in this country unless we
acknowledge our national sins and forgiveness is preached. Then and only
then can people rise up against poor circumstances and be all God would
have them be.

So how about it? Are clergy putting too much emphasis in a man and not on God?

The pulpit is NOT for politics. Governing of men is far different than providing edification of spirit and Jesus made that clear, Churches (not just black churches either) need to step the hell back from politics and start teaching the message of Grace. I tend to agree with George Carlin on this one...

People and the clergy needs to stop looking to people. People on earth are all humans that fail. Some people have a bad experience and then they leave god and the faith because of faith they put into a person.

Anyone putting faith in a politician is a fool.

If you ever visit a church that is man centered rather than Christ centered, don't bother visiting it again.

Churches are there to praise God and learn lessons from The Bible. Any Church not doing that is not a Christion Church!

This is why I appreciate the Church I found some 5 or 6 years ago. The Pastor is firm in his believe that God and Jesus are the way. I have been to others who are preaching the "New" Populist Christianity.

I want to put faith in myself. I don't like too much, that people act like they should be revered themselves, but we should do our best to be our best without the help of higher power. "We made this mess (whatever you consider a mess) so let's clean this up ourselves." I still believe there are many things that the general population can do about the economy.

The problem with "hope exists in the person of Jesus Christ". Jesus Christ in the person is no longer available to insure hope isn't misplaced. Nope, that he left to human beings. His mistake ..........

This nation can not be blessed so long as they turn their back on Christ and deny who he is. This nation is in the process of removing God and denying his Son.

So you want to take no responsibility at all? For our country? And why is our country so special? There are things you can do without asking for help. The bible states he put that power in our hands, did he not?

He did indeed empower us. When you have a nation of those that rejects Christ there is very little one can do. I do my research on who I vote for and I write those who represent me. That includes the President and the Speaker. I also pray for this nation and those who represent me. How many here do you think do as I do? I am not a Johna that walks in a city and they all repent.

Not that! I mean: do you volunteer for the homeless? Do you buy only American so that the dollars circulate to Americans? Do you put extra effort into your job, do make sure that if the American work ethnic is raised, so is spending?

I am retired now. I will tell you about what I did in my last job. I was the tool & machine designer. I supervised the tool makers and sometimes the Molding Department. I was also the Process Engineer. When I can I buy American. It is getting to where that is very difficult to do. Try to buy a faucet that is made in America. I had to go to 3 stories in my area and found the very last one the supply house had that was American made. I was unable to find an electrical outlet made in America. You can buy a foreign car that has more American parts on it than you can many of the American brands. Just read an article that was from GM that said that 70% of their cars are now manufactured in other countries. I even found that some appliances with American brand names that were not made here. You pick a subject that really upsets me. I made a complaint at Home depot as most of their product were not made here. Try to buy a light bulb. There is only one company that makes high efficiency light bulbs left in America and no one around me stocks them. There is only one company left that makes tennis shoes. I bought my fender guitar about 7 years ago only to find once I got home it was made in Mexico. Then we have the EPA bothering the only guitar company that make all it guitar here fining over some wood, plus they took the wood. The wood they had had been certified as reclaimed.

Oh my, my. I've been doing research on American made products. Trying to find ones that were actually made in America. Its a good things I never am going to buy a vehicle, its sound awful. The only thing I can thing of that is made in America is movies, video games, and music-even to that I'm very wry and it doesn't match the supply and demand for everything we need on a day to day basis. I've been trying to get friends to buy American made clothing-they keep complaining that they are bland. American made furniture-is beautiful in fact, (usually made by Amish community) but expensive. I"m willing to pay the extra dollar, but I know a lot of people how they don't want to spend extra on anything anymore. They want to buy a cheap piece of furniture, instead of something decent.
But the one research information that was most interesting was in book my father read. He said that American jobs are being sold overseas, because the factories that are built in America cannot meet up with demand.
I'm still continuing my research, but there are other things to be done. My father is trying to get me a job at his office, but I want a manufacturing job. I don't know if someone my gender can pull it off, but I want to find out up close what is going on. Cool that your an Engineer though, my sister is going to college to become one.

There are several site on the internet that you can purchase American made goods. Here is just one: http://www.buyamericanmart.co...

The book is correct. China has bought many American made product names and manufacture under those names, such as sylvania. I have work with several ladies that were Engineers. Engineering is not a gender type thing, it really depends on the ability to understand mechanics. I have worked with many Engineers that do not understand mechanics and they do not make a very good Engineer. They are book smart only. It takes them much longer to figure things out. Thank You.

Oh, I'm not becoming an engineer. I want to try working at manufacturing or processing companies like in my sister's state there was "Books-A-Million" warehouse. I'm worried about my gender because it requires a lot of heavy lifting, that I might not be the first person they hire because they think I can't lift that much.

That is a problem. I have seen some very little ladies that were able to handle a lot of lifting after they got use to it. There are normally some standards of weights that they put on packaging and when those are exceeded you use different means of lifting.

You are very welcome! I have twice complained at Home Depot about the lack of american made products. It is going to take lots of complaints to help. Maybe you should try a letter writing campaign to some of the manufacturers. Like GE and Whirlpool which have moved much of the manufacturing to Mexico and China. NAFTA is part of the problem. It work great for the other counties, but not for America.

Hey hate to break the news but America was founded on freedom of all religions, some of the founding fathers were atheists. A lot of the god stuff you see in America was not always there, for example "In god we trust" was not on paper money until 1957, it was on coins as early as 1864 however, Also " In god we trust" was adopted as official motto of the US in 1956 to replace the unofficial "E pluribus unum" Meaning "Out of many, one" in Latin. Also the pledge of allegiance the "under god" was not put in until 1954. Separation of church and state, you religion has no more say then mine our anybody else's, and laws do not and shall not have religious motives. Kinda weird how we won our independents, found off the British again in 1812, survived a civil war, fought in and won two world wars without being blessed.

If you have not notice I was around when those changes were made. Back then separation for Church meant that the Church was protected from the state as it was intended. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances. History books have been mutilated with BS for several decades. This is why the state of Texas is restoring the history books so that there children are taught properly. Thomas Jefferson use to love to write one of the Churches, in which he did not like that church and harassed them. The truth of the matter is that Jefferson attend church services riding his horse there even when it rained. He also had a seat that was reserved for him. Do you know where those church services were held.
Congress had taken a vote to allow those very service to be held in the same building that Congress met. Does that sound like the separation of church and state that you have been taught. This was done by the very founding father that wrote our wonderful document. Now go find and read some good books that give you the history rather than the trash they produce today. This nation was Blessed at one time.
