Banning foods has gained momentum in urban, Democratic strongholds like San Francisco, New York and now Cambridge, Massachusetts. The city council of Cambridge ignored the negative backlash by the public regarding New York city's plan to ban large sugary sodas. Cambridge wants to pass a similar measure because they believe they can help stop obesity by outlawing a single food item.

Cambridge's Policy Order Resolution:
June 18, 2012

MAYOR DAVIS

WHEREAS: High intake of soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages increases the risk of obesity and diabetes; and

WHEREAS:

New York City has a plan to limit the serving size of soda and other sugar-sweetened beverages sold in restaurants; now therefore be it

ORDERED:

That the City Manager be and hereby is requested to refer the matter of a ban on soda and sugar-sweetened beverages in restaurants to the Cambridge Public Health Department for a recommendation.

I don't drink soda very often at all. I keep to a very healthy diet most of the time.

BUT ... I'm against this whole nanny-state idea of banning soda, banning Happy Meals, and so on.

Soda and "junk food" has been around for ages, but the obesity epidemic is a relatively recent phenomenon.

So, America's waistlines are not going to get smaller because of nanny-state bans on fattening foods and drinks.

They'll get smaller when people turn off their computers and X-Boxes and start exercising again.

They'll also get smaller when people -- not the government -- start making responsible choices for themselves and their kids.

turn computers x-boxes exercising smaller people government responsible choices kids

Truly out of their minds, they will keep on serving alcohol, still adding salt to the food, and i bet there is salt on the table, i wonder what sort of high fat food they serve.
On one hand they say no to soda, and yet serve alcohol, and food with high fat contents,
so no to soda, and yes to others drinks and food which we all know can kill you or harm you.
If the soda goes because it X then all the others who fall into x shall have to go.

Never been there and never will. Although this could happen anywhere USA and I drink a coke like once a month I don't drink alcohol or milk so an occasional coke can't hurt I'm thinking this is a good way for any restaurants to lose allot of business if you want to lose business side with the Libs and go out of business

Any restaurant has the absolute right to serve whatever a customer might ask for, subject only to the usual laws against fraud--that is, making sure that what the customer asks for, and what the customer gets, are the same thing.

Henrietta is an arrogant, ignorant slob. If the majority elects her again then they deserve to bend over and get it in the shorts and woe to the the free citizens who need to find a free city to live in where an elected official "serves" the people they are elected by instead of pretending that they are smarter and the RULER of all they survey!

Oh really..... I drink 80 soft drinks a day. I am responsible for my own health care. When I die early, I pay for my funeral and the health Nazis can take comfort in my early demise. How about that? They won't be happy until they have us electronically programmed.

No they do not. As I said, we are not a democracy... that only needs a 51% vote to oppress the other 49% of the public. We're a republic. If more people knew that, we wouldn't be on the precipice of a full-on dictatorship.

Some scientists have reported that humans affect the earth's climate 2 - 3% at the most. Proponents of global warming claim that the ozone is thin in areas! Really?? That's because it is a living thing that moves & actually gets more & less dense continually is all areas. Think about the money to be made by "a few" such as Al Gore & his hysteria sheep, if we have to pay THEM for carbon credits?? How perfect! The one thing everyone on the planet has in common is the environment. What a market for these crooks to tap into if they can alarm enough people into believing their B.S. Follow the money & find out who's on the take.
  • Katherine Ron 2012/06/29 02:36:44

Oh, there are scientists that say something to the effect that global warming is a myth. They're being threatened and losing their jobs. People provide plants with carbon, plants provide us with oxygen. It's a complimentary system. I always ask myself what people stand to gain by lying to me. Turns out that they make a fortune out of it and get a great amount of control, not just in how we live our lives but *total power*. Business have to buy and sell their carbon credits and answer to legislators. What we eat, what we drive, how much energy our homes consume. Agenda 21, the Rural Council. Greatest scheme tyrants ever cooked up and millions have bought into their own enslavement. By far the worst is the connection to population control. Eliminate 95% of the population for the "greater good" of the planet. Capitalists go first.

Wake up America...these tards are just looking for a foothold and are using keywords like "healthy" to get the masses to go along, "It is better for you", :put an end to obesity"..then after they have you by the short ones you will have no power, no recourse and no vote when they take whatever they feel like away from you and then they will attach fines...to any and everything they want..
