Wachovia Bank was taken over by the federal government. The government also seized Washington Mutual, who's assets and deposits were acquired by JPMorgan for $1.9 billion. Citigroup has made a bid that pulled Wachovia from total failure. The bank takeovers are coming from the subprime mortgage crisis which is causing the US economy to tank. This economic failure rivals the Great Depression.
With Citigroup now taking over Wachovia, will you be changing banks?

- Jcap ~ Peace ~ 2008/09/30 00:46:13Yes, I will be changing banks.Wachovia has been managing my IRA for several years now. I hate to bail because I have always been happy with my account manager, but, the situation is just too volatile. I am going to switch my account to a local bank that had the good sense to stay out of the sub prime mortgage market. They have a good rating as far as conservative investing goes. Luckily I moved my money from a mutual fund to a money market before the market tanked.reply
