Wow, they are doing WAY TOO MUCH!!!! So they grope children and send radiation through those who refuse to be groped... Millions of people per year, and they catch ONE person and all of a sudden it's "Oh the TSA is here to protect us!" STFU! This has gone too far, the TSA needs to go die in a hole...

I find it funny when Republicans complain about the TSA .. when many support Racial profiling and stop and frisk searches .

I haven't flown in years, so I'm really not sure about airport security, now.

i think that since they CAUGHT the person that blew up the plane this time they're doing enough. (i just wish i didnt have to put up with the body scanners when i go on a plane)

Strange how a bomb can be detected easily but not if it's covered in your underwear!

The TSA is a joke... period. I see no underwear allowed when traveling by airplane in the very near future.

The TSA does almost nothing to protect travelers. All the TSA does is waste billions of dollars and billions of man-hours in security theater. All significant protections come from activities outside the airport, like this one. Read Bruce Shneier:

I think the underwear bomber should have been given a bomb rigged to burn "Allah Ain't So Merciful" into his flesh. Just to remind him how much his God doesn't care about him. That would literally scar him for life. LOL.

Considering it wasn't the TSA, but the CIA, and we can stop them without the invasiveness of the TSA *currently* - then no, it isn't better.

I think we are doing a great job in this country but the rest of the worlds security is not up to par. I guess they should just take everybody's underwear away! lol Next thing will be to make everyone fly naked....

To tell the truth, I take trains if I can and busses if I can't but I'm not travelling lately anyway except within 100 or 200 miles, so I drive, I quit flying when I heard about the hassle involved... Sorry i guess the terrorists win where I'm concerned because it's just too much trouble to fly anymore. Not avoiding it because I'm scared, I'd much rather fly, but I'd also much rather not be searched like a prison inmate to do it...

The question is kind of contradictory since well the TSA really had no involvement in foiling the plot. But yes in ways more than necessary they do protect us.

Good question! But it's probably best to ask a person that has been blown up in an airplane if the TSA is doing enough. Those that aren't blown up are still in the game and will offer varying opinions. They fail to realize that successful travel from point A to point B is a TSA success and travel from point A to a morgue is failure.

Failure would also consist of getting by TSA with weapons, test explosives, etc...and not necessarily using them
  • The I mrosen814 2012/05/15 17:52:03

True. And obviously the more chances there are for these devices to go undetected; the chances increase for travelers to never make it to their destinations.

Actually it was the CIA that foiled the plot so if the bomb would have made it to an airport over seas to here it might have gone off. Really the TSA has nothing to do with this story because the bomb was coming from there to here so it would not have passed through one of the TSA's security checkpoints before it exploded anyway...
