Presidents deliver on about 1/3 of their promises. Were they sincere in making them? Pet projects ( health care) sure. But Congress stands in the way of many Presidential promises as do unexpected turns of events on the domestic and foreign fronts, such as America's obsession with wars.

Some promises are just absurd. Does anyone really believe Willard will staple a green card to every immigrant who graduates with an advanced degree? Does anyone actually believe he will build an electrified fence? A " robust economy within a year" ??

Does anyone believe Ron Paul would close down five government agencies. Really? The DOE alone hires around 60,000 employees nation wide. That's a lot of jobless people all of a sudden.

Newt Gingrich. How about that colony on the moon. Michelle Bachman would repeal ACA the very first day. Presidents have no power to repeal laws.

Obama made two big promises and tackled them early on. Health care. Immigration. The Dream Act passed the House and then Senate with 55 votes. Republicans pulled a filibuster ( surprise, surprise) and it died. It is obvious the Repubs have no immigration plan, so he acted without Congress on that issue. Good for him.

The wait times for skilled immigrants, particularly those from India and China, last 5 to 8 years, or potentially even decades in some cases because there is a per country limit . It is up to Congress to make reforms to current immigration policies involving green card status and the per country limit.

But hey, if you want to think Romney would walk around with a pocketful of green cards to hand out here and there, then more power to you. Thanks for the grins.
