Two weeks ago, Governor Christie vetoed a bill that would provide for early voting in New Jersey general elections at a cost of $25 million. Now that a new election is needed to fill a vacant Senate seat, he has called for a special election only three weeks before the regular fall election. The additional cost for the state is estimated to be $24 million. By scheduling the Senate vote on the same date as the general election, that $24 million could be saved. But he wants to waste the money by haviing a special election three weeks earlier.
Or is this really a plan to have a low turnout for the special election, to try to give the Republicans a slight advantage? Is this $24 million being spent for the benefit of the Republican Party?

I've been saying for a while that the people in New Jersey need to stop believing the hype by the media and focus on his record. Maybe this will finally make them take a closer look at who this bully is.

This is one of those 'damned if you do and damned if you don't" things. They, NJ, need a senator, the state is a democrat state, Christie is a republican, if he had put a republican in for the rest of the term - he would have been a rat; if he put in a democrat--he would have been a rat -- sooo, his solution is actually in keeping with the laws and the wants and desires of the citizens - The winner will likely be Booker (a democrat) who is a damned good man - Christie could have just appointed him but the right would howl and the left howls at everything including the moon The reality is that there is no strong republican candidate and 5 months vs 3 months makes no difference.

Soo no, he is doing what he should do for the best interest of the state and himself -- works for me

He could have waited 3 weeks and saved his state $24 million.

No reason to do so - the people want a Senator as soon as possible - he is doing that.
