He's got a point. Unfortunately, all of the American people pay the price for the idiots that voted for Obama and may vote for him again.

    No dis'intended, but,

    Not all uninsured are deadbeats...

Lots of employers don't offer insurance ~

Not that I'm for Obamacare, mind you, as I'm not !

But I am one who's been without healthcare coverage,

for quite some time, and, luckily, I haven't really needed it...

It was money down the tubes, for me, though, when I DID have it, as,

I never had to use it then, either, kinda like my car insurance is, as well :p

That's what it looks like. I just don't understand how you can tax someone on something they do not buy.

I guess it was o.k. when the Taney Court said that Mr. Dred Scott was just a piece of property. It was a political decision made by the court to uphold slavery even though the anti-slavery tide was rising against it. Same goes for Plessey v. Ferguson that gave the South the political muscle to keep black codes and Jim Crow Laws on the books for 80 years. And look at the strife those two decisions caused our nation. Many times the American people have voted for the wrong polticians based on a false premise and then those same politicians now pass laws the people did not want and the SCOTUS is supposed to be part of those "Checks and Balances" that are there to supposedly protect us from an over reaching government. All three branches are suppose to uphold the Constitution that protects our God-given rights as individuals,. It seems that all three have failed. We can at least try to rectify the situation with 2 of those 3 in November.

Justice Roberts evidently feels it's not the Supreme Court's job to protect us from ourselves. You have to admit, this nation made a terribly bad decision when they voted Obama for president. I'm hoping we correct that mistake in November.

I guess it's just to interpret the Constitution. I'm surprised he didn't feel he should include how this is going to negatively affect most people.

So by that you'd agree the SCOTUS shouldn't be doing a REWRIGHT on the law they were supposed to be Inturpreting.

NOPE!! The SCOTUS is basically the end of the line. When crooked politicians make up laws going against the constitution, the SCOTUS should interpret the law according to the constitution and overturn it as this law should have been IMO.

How can it be unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause to force someone to buy something and then tax them if they don't??????????????????
  • texasred Al C. 2012/06/29 23:15:45

He didn't rule it constitutional under the commerce clause. That's why he said it's a tax. But I can't figure out how someone can be taxed on what they don't buy.

How will you like the IRS COMING AFTER YOUR MONEY IF YOU DON'T BUY INSURANCE?

If you don't buy health insurance, when u need healthcare it comes out of everybody else's pockets, meaning I would have to pay for your ER visit. But then I will drive into your car, (if I didn't have car insurance) cause major damage to it, and then YOU would be stuck with the bill! How would you like that!

I'm not going to like it one damn bit. It's given Obama the opportunity to expand the government on so many different levels, including the IRS, that it's frightening. I keep vacillating on whether I believe he was right or not.

Agreed. Roberts telegraphed a message the country 'we reap what we sew' It's a given, this fall, progressive morons will return to the voting booth and vote for progressive candidates who want to take even more from you, if that gives you solace, fine, pull the progressive lever. Rational thinking people must understand, progressive morons are a numerical minority. If you are concerned about your future, your children’s future, the future of this great nation, it is incumbent upon you, to get off your ass and vote the progressives (Republicans, Democrats, Independents, whatever) OUT!

And the Constitution is the moral compass that he uses to protect and guide people from their irresponsible political decisions.

Why would Obamacare be done? The framers of the Constitution even put in it that it is a living document, and therefore things that were not relevent in 1787 that are helpful or relevent in 2012 can allow the Constitution to be updated.

The framers put in that it is a living document where? I seem to have missed that part. There is a process to amend the constitution and it is lengthy for a reason.
  • Hayley ... nonnons... 2012/07/11 04:00:52
    Hayley Callaway
Article 5. The fact that we do have an amendment system does make it a living document and it doesn't matter how lengthy it is, the fact is that we have it.
