The president of the popular fast food chain Chick-fil-A has ignited a social media firestorm after saying his company opposes gay marriage.

“Guilty as charged,” Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press when asked about the Atlanta-based company’s support of the traditional family unit.

“We are very much supportive of the family — the biblical definition of the family unit. We are a family-owned business, a family-led business, and we are married to our first wives. We give God thanks for that,” he said in the interview, posted Monday

Doesn't matter one way or the other. If I boycotted every company whose idology I didn't agree with I would never be able to eat out, buy cloths, cars appliances, etc. A mountain out of a molehill. There is one across the street. I couldn't get in to eat if I wanted to. It is packed lunch and dinner. Doesn't do bad at breakfast. Seems busier than ever.

I think left wing orginizations relish in stories like this just so they can be loud annoying. It's perfectly fine for an atheist or a gay "rights" advocate to stand up and bash the bible and or christians...they are "progressive thinkers"....yeah right.According to three different poles taken in 2008 78% of Americans considered themselves christian either catholic or protistant in the U.S.,that's alot of of intolerant hate mongering bible thumpers right Rufus?

Suits me just fine, I didn't like their old dry chicken sandwiches anyway. Now I have a really good reason to refuse when my son tries to take me there for lunch (He loves Chick-filet). Now I just have to work on convincing him to not patronize them either. That's going to be a hard sell..

Agree or not, I will defend Dan Cathy's right to express his beliefs, and at least he isn't supporting some whacko progressive collectivist group that wants to destroy any fundamental indivudual natural rights that we might have left in this country.

All it says above that he is against gay couples hijacking the traditional centuries old legal definition of marriage between a man and a woman so, if you want to be taken seriously, how about providing solid links to back up your accusations.

The owner has already stated that he opposes "gay marriage" because of his religous beliefs so what other link could you possibly need to verify that fact?

You are the one further accusing him and his company of "supporting some whacko conservative collectivist group that wants to destroy an individual's natural rights" so put up or quit spinning everyone's wheels.

His statement is all the proof anyone needs to verify his intolerance. Religious hate is never legitimate.

An expression of moral disagreement is neither intolerant nor hateful Junior, and Chick-fil-A has never discriminated against anyone. They hire people of all races, nationalities, genders and sexual preferences and the Christian owner simply has a problem with the gay/leftist PC nut-job agenda of attacking traditional values and trying to hijack the centuries old classic definition of marriage as being between a man and a woman.

For someone who professes to be so bothered by ignorance, intolerance and hate, it is amazing how the only real demonstration of an unreasonable Fascist style one way street ends up being your own hateful, smearing, totally UNSUPPORTED accusations.

It is when the religion is the one defining the morality. As for Chik-fil-A not discriminating, I'd have to disagree. Apparently, they do so openly. Quite frankly, I'm amazed that you can't see it.

The entire neighborhood must feel the same because the parking lot never has an open space! I think the CEO understands he gets free advertising from the liberal press, LOL!
