Chick-Fil-A Fast Food Chain Donated Nearly $2 Million To Anti-Gay Groups
Want a side order of anti-gay rhetoric with your chicken sandwich?
Chik-Fil-A might be able to help you with that.
According to EqualityMatters.org, the fast food company donated nearly $2 million in 2009 to groups that have anti-gay agendas.
IRS 990 forms show that WinShape, the restaurant chain's charitable foundation which was founded by Chick-Fil-A's chairman S. Truett Cathy in 1994, gave to the following groups in 2009:
Marriage & Family Legacy Fund: $994,199
Fellowship Of Christian Athletes: $480,000
National Christian Foundation: $240,000
Focus On The Family: $12,500
Eagle Forum: $5,000
Exodus International: $1,000
Family Research Council: $1,000
An earlier investigation by Equality Matters found that Chick-Fil-A, which was recently voted the third most beloved restaurant chain in the United States, donated more than $1 million to anti-gay groups between 2003 and 2008. The IRS forms from 2009 are the most recent available as public records.
In January Chick-Fil-A president Dan Cathy defended the chain saying, "We're not anti-anybody... Our mission is to create raving fans."
Cathy was also forced to respond to gay activists' claims after the company provided lunch at a marriage-training event sponsored by Pennsylvania Family Institute.
Cathy asserted, "While my family and I believe in the Biblical definition of marriage, we love and respect anyone who disagrees."
In recent months students attending at least six universities, including University of North Texas, Mississippi State University, and the University of New Orleans, have launched petitions asking their schools not to support anti-LGBT businesses like Chick-Fil-A.
LGBT activists have also staged protests at a number of the chain's locations throughout the country, including Chicago and Hollywood.

A recent study has shown that “Homophobia is more pronounced in individuals with an unacknowledged attraction to the same sex and who grew up with authoritarian parents who forbade such desires, a series of psychology studies demonstrates.”

Richard Ryan, the study’s co-author, stated “In many cases these are people who are at war with themselves and they are turning this internal conflict outward.”
Science Daily explains that:
The paper includes four separate experiments, conducted in the United States and Germany, with each study involving an average of 160 college students. The findings provide new empirical evidence to support the psychoanalytic theory that the fear, anxiety, and aversion that some seemingly heterosexual people hold toward gays and lesbians can grow out of their own repressed same-sex desires, Ryan says. The results also support the more modern self-determination theory, developed by Ryan and Edward Deci at the University of Rochester, which links controlling parenting to poorer self-acceptance and difficulty valuing oneself unconditionally.
Ryan also explained that “We laugh at or make fun of such blatant hypocrisy, but in a real way, these people may often themselves be victims of repression and experience exaggerated feelings of threat. Homophobia is not a laughing matter. It can sometimes have tragic consequences.”
It is not surprising to find out that those who are the most homophobic are afraid of themselves, and afraid of homosexuality being normalized in society.

You believe in freedom of choice. Your choice to eat anywhere you like, Chick-Fil-A's choice to send their money where they like, and the choice of gays to do as they will. The paradox comes when the Chick-Fil-A uses it's money, to help take away that choice from gays. You said you don't eat there anyway, but hypothetically, if you did, would this bother you?
I brought up the KKK, not to call you a racist. I apologize if my point got lost in my metaphor. The reason I used the KKK, was because many of these groups, are to gays, as the KKK is to black people. And I think that most people in this country, would stop eating there, if they supported the KKK; but somehow, when it is an anti-gay group, it doesn't bother them as much.
I'm sure you're a good grandpa. Again, I apologize for being unclear. I really wasn't calling you a racist. and for the record, I'm one of those soldiers. I almost died in Iraq. and the mortar that almost killed me, did take two friends. I believe in choice too, and I've already offered my life to defend anyones right to believe as they see fit, or to give voice to those beliefs; but I don't have to help them.
Being a veteran Elijah, Im curious to your thought's on the patriot act and DHS law that takes away freedom of speech, to assemble and right to trial?
Many blessings to you and your's!
Cheers!
