Chicago has been run by crooked politicians for so damn long they no longer have the ability to make rational decisions. Everything they do is based on who to grease, how much and what furthers their personal well being. This is how they think and react to everything, politics first, welfare for anything else takes second place always !

New York also has a better education system than Michigan. People who aren't educated are more likely to live in poverty, and the poor are more likely to commit crimes. I think it has more to do with education than gun control.

I think Chicago is a good microcosm to look at when considering banning guns. The gangs (criminal element) are running entire communities and make their own laws and the mayor thinks its just fine to fund their projects, etc. Most ppl would call that dancin with the devil. Ban guns and only criminals will have them....why? Because criminals dont care what the law is. They are criminals.

I would say a large degree of this violence is drug realted . So if we had worked harder to eliminate drugs in our country this would have had a huge effect .

One, most murders are committed by guns and two, I'm not simplify it to just guns. Guns don't kill people, people do. Are they any less dead if they were killed by something other than a gun? I'm just saying by this question that murderers will still get guns even if you regulate them more and more and you can kill people with other weapons other than guns. You could kill someone with your bare hands.

I'm sorry but I've heard that guns don't kill people argument before. I am well aware of the many ways to die, at least 6 million. The point is, guns are a weapon of death, and it's a lot easier to run from someone with a knife or your hands than it is to run from a glock. Not to mention, the stray bullets that snatch away too many young lives. I'm not a huge gun control person, nor do i want guns taken away from anyone. But there are too many factors in which why things are the way they are, and we'd be foolish not to admit that easily accessible firearms to criminals is one of them.

Well the guns don't kill people argument is true though. People kill people, guns may make it easier but a lot of things can make it easier to kill people. Liberals are trying to get firearms out of the criminals though, we should just lock them up because as long as they are free, they will find ways to get a hold of firearms.That is true but it's also a lot easier to survive someone shooting at you if you have a firearm yourself.

It's also riskier. I don't think showing someone a gun is going to cut it, you'd better be ready to use that gun, and accept the consequences also. Yeah, it's easy to say lock up the criminals, but we have this thing this country called due process, (it's in the constitution) so it takes a lot longer than you would expect. Also, I'm not doubting the validity of the quote, but it also simplifies things, which isn't needed.
