If more people on the base HAD guns more lives would have been saved!! The guns are locked up. The only guns there (other than the terrorists gun) belonged to a civilian police officer. The soldiers are not trusted enough to carry guns........go figure.

When I was in the Army stationed in Germany we took turns pulling guard duty at the motor pool. We were given M16 with EMPTY magazines!! NO BULLETS!! But with an EMPTY magazine. When I asked WHY we had no ammo I was told so that if terrorists invaded the motor pool they couldn't take my gun and use it on me. Now call me crazy, but I think they will HAVE THEIR OWN!!! And they will think mine is LOADED because I have a magazine...........THIS is the defense these soldiers had!! NONE.
