Michelle Obama Threat: D.C. Police Officer Allegedly Said He'd Shoot First Lady, Report SaysWASHINGTON -- A District of Columbia police officer has been taken off a motorcycle escort for White House officials after he allegedly said he'd shoot first lady Michelle Obama and "then used his phone to retrieve a picture of the firearm he said he would use," according to The Washington Post.

The Metropolitan Police Deparment is investigating and the Secret Service has been told of the alleged threat, the Post reports:

The motorman allegedly made the comments Wednesday morning
as several officers from the Special Operations Division discussed
threats against President Obama. It was not immediately clear where the
alleged conversation took place or exactly how many officers took part
in the conversation.

During that conversation, the officials said, the officer allegedly
said he would shoot the First Lady and then used his phone to retrieve a
picture of the firearm he said he would use. It was not immediately
clear what type of firearm was allegedly shown.

An officer overheard the alleged threat and reported it to a police
lieutenant at the Division, who immediately notified superiors, the
officials said.

The officer has been moved to administrative duty as the incident is being investigated, according to the Post.

MPD Chief Cathy Lanier told WRC-TV/NBC4: "There is conflicting information about what the officer said. ... Internal Affairs will get to the bottom of it."

This is a developing story...

The RWNJs have created an atmosphere of hate in this country that I have never seen in my 60 years. Even on SH there is so much disrespect for the President it's appalling. I don't care if you disagree with the president in everything he says and does, you don't have the right to threaten him or his family by creating an atmosphere of hatred and anger. It could literally lead some nut to cause a national tragedy. Mrs. Obama is a lovely woman with a fine family and she should be able to feel safe while serving this country. This officer should be charged with threatening the First Lady and take his punishment. Obama Family

I hear so many out right lies here in Texas and a lie told enough times becomes reality to thousands of people. So this does not surprise me, no telling what this guy was thinking.

I know there is violence outside my front door and that our law enforcement is in bad condition but have someone threaten the first lady when she probably did nothing to this guy but rub him the wrong way makes him sound like he is mentally ill like some many folks out there.

I don't agree with associating any nutjob with any group without proof. Even Mooshelle doesn't deserve crap like that. Send her on her 26th or so vacation and get her away for awhile. She earned this one.

A police officer should know better that's why he should be fired immediately. This kind of despicable and unprofessional behavior should garner ZERO TOLERANCE! It just remind me of all the disgusting bigoted hate mongers on this site. This woman is a innocent wife, mother, and devout family woman. She doesn't make policy, present bills, sign anything into law, have any control whatsoever over foreign/domestic policy so what's with all the hate towards her? Everyone know exactly what and why but most right-wing whackos are too chickenshit to ever come out and admit it.

If this police officer was bold enough to make a threat of that nature to the First Lady of the United States, (I'm almost certain it's b/c of her race) you have to wonder how he treats ordinary citizens like you & I. He shouldn't be on "desk duty". His ass should be fired & thrown into jail.

No, I'm not jumping to conclusions before I get the whole story. It's one persons word against another. And no matter how dry it may seem at least I have some sort of humor. Don't take life so seriously, or try to read between lines that aren't there....especially when we weren't there to hear what supposedly was heard. Besides, I keep reading the bs, so I might as well make light of it. And child, I have no hatred for anything or anyone... dislike, maybe, distaste, maybe, but never hate. Not nice to judge.

so let me get this straight:
he made a very clear threat against the First Lady. he was very specific.
and he has been moved to administrative duty? seriously? why hasn't he been detained and questioned? why is he walking the streets of the city where his intended victim lives?

I know people make dark jokes in many professions. You should hear vet techs sometimes. I don't even want to contemplate what EMTs joke about. (I heard about one who had a t-shirt underneath his uniform with a vulture and the words "Swift, silent, deadly" but NO victim EVER saw it and he was reportedly a kind and empathetic pro.) I am quite sure police officers routinely make such jokes and would *never* dream of actually doing things they say.

Unfortunately for this guy there are certain places or people you never ever joke about. (try joking about a bomb in an airport security line.) It just. isn't. done. Making even joking threats against the first family is something that can't just be blown off as a joke, Any cop should know that, especially one on special detail to the first family! Stupid stupid stupid!
