It was funny. I think the President could have made his point a little clearer than he did. It was the industrial age that provided the money to make those roads. Most of the highway that we have today were not built until Ike decided that we needed a highway system. When my parents move to Calif in the 50's I can still remember many parts of route 66 where just dirt and gravel roads. Industry was still there all along it. Now once the roads were modernized industry grew, but it was from the taxes from people and mostly industry that provided the money to build them. One would not have happened without the other.
It is rather sad that the political discussion in the US is not about the problems at hand at how to solve them!
No, for Fox an I think some more broadcasts in the US will take every oppertunity, and if there is not an oppertunity, to make one up.
No fact checking, no research, playing it on the person.
On top of that using political systems names, marxism, communism, socialism an in fact not knowing what they are about.
As an outsider looking into Ameerican politics so to say that sound very silly.
So, I'm not surprised that John Stewart, in his humorous way, tells the facts.
Jon Stewart was spot on. Shame on FOX non-News for their selective editing of the video. I see "not-so-Breitbart's" spirit lives on in the annals of the Reich Wing, factually challenged echo chamber.
But if this would actually happen, I would watch it on Dutch television.
John Stewart show is also broadcasted in The Netherlands.
The presidential debates are broadcasted too!
Stewart always puts things in perspective, especially pointing out the nonsensical and utter foolishness of the Right as they flounder about like a beached whale.
Jon is a big time Obama supporter - a liberal partisan. Dennis Miller is a Romney supporter - a conservative partisan. They are attempting to promote their agenda through humor, but I don't find either one of them is funny.
Stewart obviously has an opinion and is prepared to share it. I don't always agree with Stewart's opinion but I always enjoy the presentation.
As for his point.....IMO, Republicans are targeting uneducated and ignorant voters. Perhaps this is why I find myself to be a "recovering Republican". This means I agree with many of their stated objectives, e.g., smaller government, reduced federal deficit, individual freedom from excessive government interference in their personal and business life. .... I also believe the Republican Party as it exists today is the biggest spender, the biggest borrower, and the most likely to pass regulations that intervene in my personal and business life.
IMO, this is a direct result of the Republican alliance with the "Moral Majority" and other repressive religious organizations who profess Christianity while stealing from poor widows and orphans....so they can build huge churches, amusements parks, large homes, etc. They achieve this by preaching a gospel of fear....fear of hell, fear of other religions, fear of science, fear of our own government, fear of anyone who doesn't "donate" money to build these palaces to conspicuous consumption. After all it is fear that fills their collection plates as they try to convince people they can bribe God....the fools.
Beautiful! Jon Stewart straight annihilated Romney and the right-wing's campaign platform LIE! Also reveals why conservatives are so ignorant, misinformed, and just plain stupid.
Very well done expose of political campaign bullshit. This shows that a lot of people in the Romney camp don't understand how modern tech works, and how easily such misquotes, and out of context quotes, can be exposed. I can download Obama's original speech on the internet, and can know instantly what was actually said. I don't have to make sure I pop a cassette into my VCR (presuming my TV can still record on one), or even pop a disk into a DVD burner. Besides exposing the Romney campaign's silly "gotcha" effort, Stewart also showed just how remarkably similar the candidates really are, intentionally or not. No undecided voters will be convinced by this, especially since the splicing in the Romney ad was so poorly done.
I will, of course, vote for the third party of my choice.

But alas...
Maybe...
If that would happen, that would be awsome!
But if this would actually happen, I would watch it on Dutch television.
