Charla Nash pictures after the chimpanzee attack that nearly killer her having been circulating since Nash appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Charla Nash's pictures show that Nash's face was disfigured by the chimpanzee attack.

Charla Nash's pictures also show that Nash was left without hands. On Oprah, Charla says she hopes to get a face and hand transplant. Currently, Charla Nash is suing the Department of Environmental Protection for $150 million because DEP was aware that the chimp was dangerous, but did nothing to stop the attack.

As a Wildlife Rehabilitator, I cannot stress enough the dangers of owning a wild animal as a pet! If I decide to keep one of my squirrels and it attacks me and claws out my eyes and slits my face open, who should I blame? It is so, so unfortunate what happened to Charla, but to keep this chimp as a "pet" then blame DEP for not protecting her is passing the buck I'd say. Just stay away from the wild animals as pets in the first place and you will never have to go through something like this!

She should get whatever the surgery costs, as well as a few million dollars to live off of seeing as she won't be able to financially support herself anymore. Her friend that owns the chimp seems to be almost as much to blame as the DEP - people should NOT be taking wild animals as pets. I know its not gonna happen but Nash should be suing her friend as well.

Perhaps the DEP pays for the surgery and the owner has to take care of her?

shes definatley desirves that 150 million!
i was watching that on the today show and i was really sad,
i dont see how that pet owner thinks shes deserves it!
i think people should stick to dogs, cats, fish, & turtles!

I think she should get something, but I believe 150 million is excessive. She has to assume some responsibility for the attack. She came over because she was told over the phone that the chimp was pissed, it was her reason for going over.

Two older ladies + pissed chimp = no face.

My heart goes out to her and I will pray for her and that her face improves, however once again I am sick and tired of dumbass Americans not holding themselves accountable for their own ridiculous actions... And if they sued for $150 million, obviously that is the start of a negotiating position and they expect to get less.

Hey ! It is a very sad shame that this happened HOWEVER, self accountability needs to be taken in to consideration and the bottom line here is untamed, non-domesticated wild animal. Yes ! My heart does go out to her, however perhaps get a dog.........

I'm pretty sure it wasn't her chimp. It was someone elses. Also, if a jury find her negligent in some regard her damages will be reduced by a percentage of her negligence.

I agree, but it wasn't her pet. She didn't keep it as a pet but worked for the lady who owned the pet.

I had a boss who had a scarlet macaw, these birds are dangerous and have been known to rip peoples faces off but lots of people keep them as pets. Well, I had to go feed the damn thing when my boss went out of town one day and I hated it but I couldn't let it starve. So I sucked it up and went to feed the bird even though I was scared out of my mind. I would hate to think of this type of thing happening to me then and how you would think it was my responsibility because I was there. Granted that was a one time event for me and this lady continued to go there day after day.

Wait this is the woman that gave pills to the chimp then called after he beat the crap out of her -badly from the pictures- to kill the animal.....excuse if this sounds cruel but...no she shouldn't get the money she bought the chimp she fed him pills -unless this is another case i am not sure-

Edit: alright now i got to know the story it wasn't her but the chimp was her friend's but the animal was on xanax

I just googles this story and it states Carla was attacked by the chimp at her closest friends house, where it was raised from infantcy. My question is : Why is she not sueing the "friend"? Why the DEP? Was it not the responsibility of her friend to properly secure this animal? I hope Carla gets her justice, but, it seems to me the law suit should be placed at the feet of her "friend".
