Probably not because that would make sense. Why on earth would our government do anything that would save money?

We should follow. It costs more to produce the penny than the penny is actually worth. It's a massive waste of money. Besides....no one bothers with pennies. Get rid of them already.

Right before that happens, exchange about ten dollars for pennies. Then when they dissappear, the material of the pennies you have are worth more than ten dollars. This way, you can profit from inflation!

In reality, I have no idea whether will or not get rid of the penny. I wish we would. What a waste of time and resources. Now, having written the preceding, I still pick them up from the sidewalk. Naturally, not as money, but as a good luck charm.

Two things they have been trying for Decades is to get rid it the penny and instill a dollar coin.
Two things American have rejected repeatedly for decades is getting rid of the penny and dollar coins.

consider this , with no pennies what would be a 1% sales tax be on a dollar ?

1% sales tax, really? So what's your sale tax on 50 cents then? It's all rounded up, or down. In the Netherlands we haven't used the penny for almost ten years. Then again, we have 6-19% sales taxes.

State sales tax are usually between 4% to 8% , then some counties add their own sales tax and even some Cities will add a tax to that .
"It's all rounded up, or down."
here is never rounded down . The tax on a penny is a penny.

We have one, but like I said, we don't use them anymore. Stores don't accept them, nor do they give them as change in the Netherlands. Everything is rounded up or down.
