Poll: Majority Say Media are Dishonest

In a new Poll Position-TV Newser
poll conducted on Saturday, a large majority of those surveyed said
they agreed with Herman Cain that there are too many people in the media
who are downright dishonest.

Cain, who is under siege from the media over allegations of sexual
harassment going back to his days when he was the CEO and president of
the National Restaurant Association, went on the offensive Saturday when
he criticized the press for their focus on the allegations.

The poll asked respondents the following question: On Saturday,
presidential candidate Herman Cain made this statement: “There are too
many people in the media who are downright dishonest.” Do you agree or
disagree with that statement?

Sixty-four percent said yes, they agree, 19% said no and 17% had no opinion.

The party-line breakdown was somewhat predictable with 83% of
Republicans agreeing with the question followed by 61% of Independents
and 45% of Democrats.

Along racial and gender lines, the results were as follows: 66% of
whites agreed, as did 61% of Hispanics and 57% of blacks. Sixty-nine
percent of males agreed and 59% of females did as well.

The results are in line with previous nationwide surveys that show
that the public in general has a low opinion of the media, which may
help explain why the media onslaught hasn’t been able to totally derail
the Cain campaign.

I don't know I was in print journalism in high school and college. I used to think journalism was a noble profession. it seems it's all about money and ratings.

99.8% of the US media have been and continue to be in the tank for Obama. No wonder Fox News has more viewers than ALL of the competing news outlets combined. And then you liberals cry, whine and complain about that.

Watching MSNBC is like watching episodes of the Twilight Zone. and the Outer Limits.

It's it's pretty damned pathetic that Americans cannot get comprehensive domestic news except from foreign sources.

Read this. More domestic news than all US print newspapers combined (or seems so).

TRUST .. and Media .. are polar opposites ..

Listening to the so-called 'journalists' nowadays .. it sounds more like I'm listening to a bunch of catty gossipy filth-mongers .. (there's no true 'journalism' .. as in reporting the facts and actually letting the FACTS speak withOUT putting personal opines in instead) ...

What each person has to do is learn to actually look between the lines .. and learn how to determine the facts for themselves (through research .. checks ... observation and learning how to see any issues from all sides of any debate/discussion/event).

Can't trust either politicians or the media. Over 68% of the public, in a poll three years ago, were shown not to trust the media. However, the public still uses the MSM to get their "news". I guess bad habits are hard to break. The public also continues to do the same thing over and over again, voting Democrat and Republican, expecting different results. It's a vicious circle. The media tells the public there isn't any other way to go and the politicians use the media to propagandize their agendas. It's insane.

Too many journalists seem to want to influence policy rather than do the how, what, when, where, who, etc of events.

It is best to read the story from several sources if it is important enough to you. The trouble is who has time to do that? I dont convict someone because it was said by the media. They must think we are all damn fools , they think we believe their nonsense.

I do not think I would trust media if they suddenly started telling the truth of the news as opposed to putting forth opinion pieces on the news.

It has a way of using Smoke Screens with the Public. You don't know what to believe and what not to believe.
