Im a progressive/liberal, but I can get along with conservatives easily if we dont discuss politics. And ill discuss it with them if they can do it without name calling and yelling. I dont judge people based off of policies. Some nutjobs do though.

We can talk about everything, even politics, because in the end we keep it civil and agree to disagree.

I can even have political discussions with them, because, unlike so many people in the world I know how not to be an arse to people when my opinions differ from theirs.

I do it everyday in the office. When work is to be done, politics gets set aside. A lesson the House needs to learn.

You can always reason with reasonable people. There should always be room for compromise. I always believe there are no absolutes.

Possibly. If we can stay away from politics. The trouble is that the people who have opposing views from me on what's up in DC usually are also poles apart from me on many other issues that many times are even MORE important to me. It becomes impossible to come to terms.

As a fiscal conservative, social liberal, this was never an issue between friends, until 2008. Now, my liberal friends/family are silent on the subject, nor have I said, "told you so". Local politics are still easily discussed.

I like to pride myself on my ability to find common areas of agreement with anybody on the internet, no matter their political affiliations. And yes, that includes ideologies that range from fascists, to communists, to conservatives, to moderates, to fellow liberals, to libertarians, to anarchists, to progressives, to non-political people. Creating common ground with fascists is generally the hardest... but it can be done.

I inherited my political views from my parents and kept them ever since. I dont know anything about what their beliefs are so why should I care about some else having different ones.

They can't respect other's political views, whether it'd be on whether or not they like Obama, to which party they affiliate themselves with. They even went so far as to make fun of my nationality as well as the nationality of others.

I can, but as long as the person is not a bigot. If they can argue their opinion in a sensible polite manner, than yes. If they are unwilling to listen to anyone else's opinions and have nothing to back up their view, than no.

I don't really care for politics. Seeing as how me and most of my friends are under the legal voting age, we don't exactly have strong view points on the matter.

All my real life friends belong to different faiths and political views. They're fine until they start preaching unwarranted, which they all do. At that point I dismiss myself from the discussion and go outside for a smoke or leave entirely. We've remained friends for a good long while despite our differences. They know I find most, "isms," and "anities" and political parties intolerable and they accept it. It'd be wrong for me to not do the same for them.
