Yes, liberals own guns and so do socialists. In fact, I'd support a program to provide guns, for self defense, to every young black man in America.

hell, i second the motion. that way when we take em down they don't have the "poor unarmed child" defense. give em all guns, they have no tactical experience and are easily dispatched....

Of course liberals own guns, the lie that we (liberals) want to do away with the second amendment is a marketing ploy by the NRA to help gun companies sell more guns and ammo. Only stupid people fall for this rightwing lie.

Why wouldn't someone want to protect their home, family and possessions? Come through my door looking to harm my family and I will have to clean blood off that door.

I carried a gun for 35 years, got my carry permit 9 days before my 69th birthday, Just as many Liberals own guns as Conservatives, just that we're more responsible about gun control, ownership and standards.

Who's more responsible about gun control? I think when it comes to personal gun ownership it's no longer a political thing, but one of personal responsibility.

Of course you can be both. I own a couple of guns and enjoy shooting them. Oh, and nice (gun) rack in the picture.

As will be discovered if the hard-core loser Republicons are so unhappy when they lose in November that they seek "2nd amendment solutions" to their loser-ness.

I'm a liberal and I don't have a gun now but I will when I retire to the mountains. I'll need it for protection from wild animals and maybe from human animals too. I'll know how to use it too.

Yes, but are you really a "liberal" or just hiding among the pro-choice, hedonist crowd, or something like that? Do you make a distinction between social issues and what governing should really be about.

There are pro-gun Democrats in the House but I don't believe there are any in the Senate.

    p.s. I carry too.

How do you feel about voting for those who collectively would take your guns away and who vote that way consistently, even actively pursuing anti-gun measures?

How do you feel about the ACLU, champions of liberalism, an organization which does not support the Second Amendment except perhaps in their conveniently anti-gun interpretation?

I would refer you to the website of the Gun Owners of America. The archive is full of anecdotes that illustrate clearly that gun owners should be careful who their friends are.

In 1990, Pratt wrote a book, Armed People Victorious, based on his study of "citizen defense patrols" used in Guatemala and the Philippines against Communist rebels — patrols that came to be known as death squads for their murderous brutality.

Picturing these groups in rosy terms, Pratt advocated similar militias in the United States — an idea that finally caught on when he was invited for a meeting of 160 extremists, including many famous white supremacists, in 1992.

It was at that meeting, hosted in Colorado by white supremacist minister Pete Peters, that the contours of the militia movement were laid out.

The same year, it emerged that Pratt was a contributing editor to a periodical of the anti-Semitic United Sovereigns of America, and that his GOA had donated money to a white supremacist attorney's group.

In a similar time frame, Obama was a communist and a Muslim. I am not so sure about myself at that time. People do evolve, don't they?

The reason that the founders wrote the right to bare arms into the constitution was so the citizens could defend the country against those who wished to deny them their rights. Usually it's a government that does the trying.

That's why I carry a gun, there is always some fool that thinks they can settle an argument with a gun. In reality, I don't need a gun, but if a person threatens me with gun violence or any kind of violence, I'm prepared.
