The identity of the nine-year-old tragically killed in Saturday morning's shooting rampage in Tucson, Arizona is Christina Taylor Greene.
Greene is one of six killed in front of a Safeway grocery store while awaiting to talk to Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who had set up a townhall-style meet and greet event. Five people died at the scene. Greene died at a local hospital.
Greene's family says she was vibrant, excited about life, and she was the "best daughter in the world."
Born September 11, 2001, Greene was excited about the political process, was on the student government, and went to the Giffords event Saturday to learn more about the political process, family members say.
Greene attended Mesa Verde Elementary School. She was the only girl on the Canyon Del Oro baseball team. She loved the sport, as well as horseback riding and swimming. She wanted to be a veterinarian.

"Nearly six in 10 Americans say the country's heated political rhetoric is not to blame for the Tucson shooting rampage that left six dead and critically wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, according to a CBS News poll.
In the wake of the shooting, much focus has been put on the harsh tone of politics in Washington and around the country, particularly after a contentious midterm election. Rhetoric and imagery from both Republicans and Democrats have included gun-related metaphors, but the majority of the country isn't connecting the shooting to politics."
Most thinking people have enough decency to respect the dead, not use the dead for political gain.
I light a candle for those who will never be able to see another one on their birthday cake.
But this is were i come to give my opinion and sometimes to vent my anger , so i will leave your poll in it's moment of silence and not even wonder why you haven't already taken it .
Thank you for posting this instead of some weapon against whatever party you don't care for. Thank you.
And I honestly hope, however futile, that people will just leave the politics out of this. Politics have no place in this tragedy.
So, no, they will be unable to to care and empathize. They have their agendas and no one matters but that. Would be nice if it were otherwise but just because people LOOK like humans does not mean they are human inside at all.
of COURSE i think this tragedy is horrible as have been so many other insane tragedies.
i just have looked into so many of faces of insanity and evil during my life that i recognize how serious it is that there are many people who have little to no human kindness and we can't lose touch with that. There are many people who are seriously damaged and fit into the second option you gave that would never check it and i just fear we as people could get naive' and not be prepared for them.
i am pleased you posed the question. people need to wake up and break from their selfishness..
My thoughts are with the victims and the victims families.
Love,
Super
There is evil in the world and this shooter demonstrates it. How f'd up in the head do you have to be to take anothers life and then to spray the crowd indiscriminantly.
This is where our anger should be. It should be directed at this man and whatever failures led to him to be able to commit this act and it looks like there are plenty of areas of failure to examine and improve. But. It should not be at each other and trying to use this as a pawn in some twisted chess game for politcal power.
This will not be the last senseless murder that we see. But for God sake, I hope it is the last one that we use as a baton in this war of ideas.
My thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and everybofy affected by this horrendous act.
Damnit this has to stop!
