As we take a moment to digest the horrific events that took place Friday morning, at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, different thoughts plague our minds. But all undoubtedly have the common inquiry: "Can heinous and irrational crimes like this be avoided?"
Could the suspected killer -- who the media is reporting is either 24-year-old Ryan Lanza or 20-year-old Adam Lanza -- have gotten psychological or mental help that would have prevented him from executing the mass shooting? Did the shooter get his weapon illegally -- or was it all too convenient for him to get? And does "evil" and an unthinkable disregard for other human life actually exist?

If all legal citizens had the right to carry and did, do you think there would be anyone stupid enough to try to shot people in a mall when 90% or more were armed and dangerous? If more people learned to use and armed themselves do you think the bad guys would try crap? Half the problems we have are the good citizen have no real protection against the crazy and deadly ones and a government who thinks disarming the few who can protect themselves will solve the problem. Disarming the legal citizens will not save anyone but will create more of what we are seeing go on.

We don't need to increase gun control measures; Connecticut's are already amongst the strictest in America. No, we need to expand our mental health facilities. My grandmother says just that, and she's a former psychiatric nurse.
There is nothing preventing anyone, with any weapon, from walking into the elementary school that I went to, and slaughtering as many kids as they can.
Useful idiots will make sure that this remains the same. That's just wrong.
after the last Cowboy n Redskin shoot outs years ago .. tut tut

any nut job getting a Gun now .... get the AVENGERS maybe ? 8¬ ]
If you expect tragedy to happen, and you don't prepare for it, you're an idiot. If you don't expect tragedy can happen, and you don't prepare for the event that it does, you're an idiot.
Our money is protected by armed guards. Our children are protected by words on paper (laws), words on signs (gun-free zones), and good intentions. Pro tip to everyone out there: THE MONEY IS PRETTY SAFE!
I also believe Adam Lanza was the 'fall guy' in all of this simply because he had a history of mental illness, was on drugs prescribed to 'treat' his mental illness and was thereby easily manipulated by hypnosis....
You may believe I have 'lost the plot' completely and it is your right to do so... everybody is entitled to their own opinion however, before you decide to write me off, consider this:
Why were the parents of the shooting victims prevented by the authorities from viewing their children's bodies.... they were made to identify their children from photographs which anyone with half a brain knows can be photo-shopped!
Why were the children's bodies 'removed' to the medical examiners office for autopsies? They didn't 'die' from disease - I don't believe an autopsy would be required to find a victim had died as a result of gunshot wounds!
There is a lot about this incident that just doesn't measure up or ring true for me simply because the information being given by the 'authorities' has been constantly changing, right from the first responders on the ...

The medical examiner initially said all of the victims had been shot with a rifle or shotgun, yet Adam Lanza's body was found with only hand guns.... a rifle was found locked in the trunk of the car he drove to the school... how does someone who has just slaughtered a huge number of people and them themselves within a matter of minutes with a 'rifle' get the rifle back into the trunk of the car and then get back to where his body was found with only hand guns when he is already dead?
So should we do nothing, should we do something like writing words on paper (making more laws), or should we do something like actually stationing armed people everywhere these gun-free zones exist, and allow people to carry guns where they don't, to kill these people after they start shooting?
Put a military veteran in their who's had proper training and the nutballs will stay away. Though they may go to areas where they know no guns are to commit their atrocities, like businesses that put up "no guns" signs.
Funny how William Spengler, who spent 17 years in jail for killing his grandmother and was banned for life from owning firearms, got hold of those guns anyway !
Maybe we should just ban the Second Amendment.
Banning guns in America won't actually remove them from the hands of people. Most guns, to this day, are unregistered.
Also, look at Great Britain's violent crime rate - it's more than doubled after they've banned guns. They even went and banned knives, and that's still not preventing crime.
OVERALL, crime is much worse in the United States than in Great Britain.
Also - as most guns aren't registered, there's no way the government can come and take them. More importantly, as it is my right to have them, if you try to take my rights, I will kill you. I'm only one person among millions who will do this.
Words on paper do nothing to stop criminals. Criminals can only be arrested for crime AFTER that crime has been committed. More laws will accomplish NOTHING but wasting money, time, and removing freedom from law-abiding people - which may get them killed.
Look PHIL OF...., we don't exist by " rule of the jungle " here. You or anybody that thinks they can take the law into their own hands by killing people that you disagree with ( Communists do that. ) will suffer dire consquences under our justice system.
People who take my rights away from me by force? It's justifiable to kill them.
If most people in the country are retarded enough hate black people, that doesn't mean that black people don't have rights. If most people in the country are retarded enough to hate guns, that doesn't mean we don't have the right to own guns.
If Killers who have " passed F.B.I. background checks " kill people, it is time to ban the Second Amendment.
God bless former Congreswoman Gabby Giffords.
If the LAW comes for your guns, you will give them up as a good law abiding citizen or face the consquences.
