Not really, but they can give it away.

Possibly. I think that one who has no remorse for any hurt he or she gives out has little soul.

Have your ever entertained the idea that an evil person's mind and spirit is corrupt or not fully developed and cannot relate to their soul?

Yes, or perhaps they've corrupted their soul, so that is why they behave the way they do. Which came first, the chicken, or the egg?

i bet you could when you get so crazy that you can kill innocent people without remorse... like Macbeth, or when you can't show compassion for anything or anyone, like a psosiopath.

i know but they still know what they are doing but do it anyway. they still have the ability to function which is the purpose of the brain.

There are many pyschos that are functional, intellectually brilliant and methodical but that's mental. I'm discussing the soul -- not the mind. :))

true true... it's just that our soul is the very essence of who we are as people which i believe correlates with our personality (formed in our mind) because that determines if we are good (heaven) or evil (hell)

When they lose hope, they injure their spirit, in turn, it effects their mind and body. But do they ever truly lose their soul?
  • Emma Razia 2009/05/25 22:37:14

No. Your soul is your true self, your connection to the Divine. It is always there, even when "lost." You just have to get past the physical and mental aspects of the hurts to find it again.

    So true...but it's never "lost."

You are right. The soul is never lost, but the person mistakenly thinks it is, not realizing that it is he or she who is lost.

It depends on if you are a Christian or Not.I am,but the way Christians look on it are weither you give it to God or if you loose it to Satin. As a Christian,I don't believe that life ends at the death of this body.I hope that when that day comes,I have made the right choices and if there is life in Heaven,I can just be on the other side of the gate with the God of My choice.Religion is your choice,so choose it wisely.

There is no such thing as a soul. At most the soul is just a metaphor, so no you cannot literally lose your soul.

Thanks, you're correct. And you can't lose your soul, literally or "any" other way. But what convinced you that it was a metaphor?

It's often used as a metaphor for human emotion and compassion, i.e. a person who profits at the expense of human life is "soulless", or music can be said to have "soul". Sort of like how "demons" can be a metaphor for recurring psychological/emotional issues.

Good stuff. But define what Soul "is" other than metaphor. I'm not religious...

I'm not religious either, and I have struggled to find a good definition. Most religious people don't even have a good answer. I can't think of anything someone might attribute to a soul which isn't a proven function of the physical brain.

Somethings cannot be defined by the mind of man... Does that mean they don't exist?
  • ubiquit... Razia 2009/05/25 21:39:57
    ubiquitous_tergiversation
No, but if humans lack the ability to define them I strongly doubt they have the ability to discern that they exist. I'd say there is a 99.9999999999% chance that the "soul" (along with gods and the afterlife) is just something people dreamed up.

You cannot see air until the temperature (conditions) changes. Blow your breath on a glass. You'll see an element that was not obivious to your eyes until conditions changed. It's not a dream. One cannot see all with the physical eyes. Thus, one cannot define.
  • ubiquit... Razia 2009/05/26 02:05:30
    ubiquitous_tergiversation
Right, but god and souls cannot be detected by any means whatsoever, they are concepts which are known to exist only in the imagination of humans, so I think it's safe to assume that they are imaginary.

Not if the possessor never "owned" it. The black cloak man is out of luck...Can't sell what you don't have. Black cloak may need to go where folks believe they own their souls...'Might have a slim chance -- in hell.

Maybe. I've actually sold my soul several times. It's a great way to get free junk :)
