I think there is a lot of room for bipartisanship if we choose. There are many issues that affect all Americans in which we can work together. Things like :

Improving Education for our children
Lowering taxes for all
Balancing our fiscal budgets (state and federal)
Supporting our troops and veterans
Reforming campaign finance laws
Congressional term limits for these old dinosaurs!
Fighting inflation and unemployment
Energy-independence from foreign oil
Protecting our borders here
Reforming Immigration and enforcing the current laws
Protecting our Constitutional civil liberties and freedoms
And many more..

So why can't we seem to get anything done in this country? It has never been as bad as it is now. Why is that? We've seen our credit rating go down. We've seen the debt-ceiling debacle. We've seen the drama over extending unemployment benefits. And on and on.

Can Liberals and Conservatives agree on ANYTHING??!!

They have been dumbing down the sheeple for decades. The educators and the media have done a superlative job in dividing and separating We The People. At this point in time, nothing will bring the sheeple together and get them to stop pointing fingers at each other and start pointing fingers at the criminals in DC and Wallstreet.

There will be a collapse of the financial system. Even then the sheeple will be at each others throats. I look at the fema camps as a blessing in disguise as this may be the only thing that wakes them up.

Just hope that they still don't think they can vote out the bad guys from behind a wire fence prison.

Many who call themselves liberals and conservatives seem to agree on supporting candidates who are in favor of the NDAA, the Patriot Act, the TSA, the wars/occupations, and assassinations of citizens by the government.

Republican President George Bush signed the Patriot Act in to law in his first term as president.. And the Republicans loved the Patriot Act so much the gave George Bush a 2nd term as President.

And Obama signed the NDAA which is on the same level of treason as the patriot act.

I wonder if democrats will do the same?

Because, congress was in on it too. When almost everyone in government is in on it, then you cant expect the government to arrest itself for it.

As for the people, most of us believed the patriot act didnt affect citizens, but many of us now know that it allows for basically government tyranny and repeals the 4th Amendment. Too many of us just simply accept what we are told.
And others simply accept tyranny, just as long as it's their guy in office.

My point is that Bush, Obama, Romney, and most of the candidates who support those things that I listed are getting support from both those who call themselves liberals and those who call themselves conservatives.

Suggest you take a harder look at the political structure. It is a severe and critical philosophical problem, an affliction of most people who belong to and worship the Dem-Rep monopoly. Bush is over, Obama will be over, but the insanity will continue.

Not now. There used to be a time that politics stopped at the water's edge. Thats when we agreed. But ever since 2000 it hasn't stopped at the water's edge. Conservatives can and often do comprimise. But liberals never comprimise but expect everyone else to comprimise to them.

What the people want has become immaterial to the azzhats in Congress bribed by the corporate lobbyists, and allowed to remain in Congress for 20+ years to continue feeding off them if they do the said lobbyist's bidding. They and Citizens United have insured that division will remain, and we the people will not be served. The only uprising needed is against the 535 members of Congress.

While your list would have been centrist only a few short years ago - now, it is considered radical left wing. Let's consider some of Mitt's comments/the right's positions on your "radical" ideas:

Improving education for our children: did you hear Mitt's comments here? Trying to justify packing more kids into public school rooms? I guarantee you - he would not support this for his kids' private schools.

Lowering taxes for all: Mitt's stated policy is to drastically cut tax rates for the top income bracket, while raising rates on the lowest brackets.

Balancing our fiscal budgets: have you heard Mitt's policies on military spending? Have you seen who he has hired as advisors? Neocons. Trying to restoke the Cold War - by calling Russia "our greatest geopolitical threat"?

Reforming campaign finance laws; the GOP has no interest in overturning Citizen's United. It's part of the right wing agenda.

Energy-independence from foreign oil - as long as this means greasing the palms of U.S. oil companies with tax subsidies and deregulation - the righties will agree. But attack the demand-side of the equation - with higher fuel economy standards...or supporting renewable energy sources like solar or wind...and they're out.

No, blue, - as crazy as it is - I'm afraid your admirable list is now considered LWNJ stuff by the right.

However, people have to want to work together. Some do but it seems like so many are stuck in their ideological corners & refuse to give. It's not just politicians either. When you see people on SH who are so rigid in their ideology that they call moderate Republicans RINO's & demonizing anyone left-of-center we are in serious trouble.

I have Conservative friends & we're able to speak reasonably. In the past we were able to fix things in this country by taking the best ideas of the left & the right to craft legislation that worked for all. If we don't get back to that, this country is gonna go to hell in a handbasket.

    They agree on A LOT.

They agree on big government and spending.
They agree on war (just republicans use imperialistic rhetoric, democrats fake-humanitarian rhetoric)
    They agree on the NDAA.
They agree on Carbon Taxes (well the big shots of the republicans started to once Bush flip-flopped)
They agree on raiding farmers over raw milk.
They agree on forcing people to buy healthcare.
They agree on secret arrests, torture, and assassinating Americans.

    I could go on.
