– Public protests by Pakistani Islamists happen frequently, but on
Monday the target was a new one – the recent hosting by the U.S.
Embassy in Islamabad of its first-ever lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) “pride celebration.”

In recent months, protests on Pakistani streets have covered issues including alleged “blasphemy” against Islam, the arrest of a CIA contractor
who shot dead two Pakistanis, the Osama bin Laden raid, and the
continuing controversy over drone-launched missile strikes along the
Afghan-Pakistan border.

Not an event for the embassy to host. When in another's country, diplomacy (and common courtesy) is to respect the customs and sensibilities of that country

It's definitely not promoting our national interests. It gives the radicals one more thing to recruit people with.

We need to keep our stylish ideas in our own country and deal with the countries based on their laws, beliefs and customs.

Yeah that's pretty lame. Homosexuality is illegal in Pakistan and punishable by life imprisonment. I suppose it would be OK for adultery stonings to be held at Islamic Embassies in the US then.

Pakistan Penal Code 1860

Article 377 - Whoever voluntarily has carnal intercourse against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal, shall be punished with imprisonment for life, or with imprisonment of either description for a term which shall not be less than two years nor more than ten years, and shall also be liable to fine. Penetration is sufficient to constitute the carnal intercourse necessary to the offense described in this section.
