Every four years they captivate billions across the globe and provide a new generation with a slate of fresh-faced heroes and history-seeking veteran to emulate in their backyards and local gyms. The Olympics are a global showcase for the planet’s best and brightest athletes, but is it solely a young person’s game?

Emmy-award-winning television producer Lisa Fisco, 50, is attempting to break the tyranny of the teen at the next Olympics by becoming the oldest female weightlifter to ever compete at an Olympics.

Fisco, who used to lift weights with her dad as a child, started training in her late 40s and after a rough divorce and subsequent weight gain, she decided to turn her childhood obsession with the Olympics into a challenge to the Games’ typically 20-30-year-old weightlifters. Hoping to act as an inspiration to fellow mid-lifers she has already lost 100 pounds and hopes to earn a spot on the U.S. team.

Do you think a 50-year old woman should be trying out for the Olympics?

Why shouldn't she try? She's the one putting herself through whatever pains there will be, not you nor I.

I hope she goes all the way and grabs a many golds.

A persons age should not make any differnce in who makes the olympic team. Whoever performs the best should win a spot on the team.

Why not. A 200lb power clean is nothing to laugh at. I'd wager that half of the male populace, if not more, couldn't pull that off.

And WHY isn't it feminine? Where is it written that feminine means you can't be muscular? There are some female body builders that are VERY feminine.
