The fox is IN the hen house. The fox is devouring chickens left and right. The fox has nothing to worry about because all the farmers (American voters) are asleep or apathetic.

There are probably a few honest men in Congress, but it is clear that most of them use insider information and even threats against companies and industries to extort money. Almost every Congressmen or Senate gains hugely in wealth after he or she goes to Congress. It is not even their compensation and retirement that is the worst of it. It is that absolute power corrupts and a Congress that sneers at the idea of limited government and constitutional limitations to its power, is one with absolute power. Congress is a cesspool of corruption, which can only be cleaned by slashing the power of the government.

Yea, it;s pretty bad. Any benefits granted should go to public for vote, or a suitable way for the citizens of this country have a say in what they receive. Hard to know what that would look like, what would be fair and how would that be managed.

What about the CEO's of these mega-corps, even some that are losing their ass. The CEO's of these multimillion and billion dollar companies have millions stashed and\or some incredible pension under a different plan than what workers have. It's hardly any different from our politicians. You can stretch the point to our unions also pushing for higher pay and more benefits. The system might work so long as nobody gets too greedy.

It's the American way to let these politicians and CEO's have at it. After all, we don't want to impose any regulation that might be considered "socialist." Way the system works, it would be very hard to change. The problem isn't a new one, and I have no idea who or how could or would change things for the better.

It would be nice if the people of USA were able to vote on this subject. People should be in political office for ideals and to help the country. Not to be paid well for the time they are there and forever after.

The answer is putting it in front of the voters but they may open up Pandora’s box - I for one could care less - it’s time to get our nation set on the right track - the way we are living today SUCKS and does NOT represent the America I grew up in...

It's sad but elected officials look out for themselves rather than the people. It's why they get paid more while education suffers & we fight for them instead of them fighting for us!

It's just plain stupid that they can vote for more for themseves. They already get way more than they should be getting. All they care about is themselves. They don't see us as people, they see us as tax payers and that is all they will ever see us as until we the people can take away all those perks and replace it with wanting to serve the people not rape the people.

What is most troubling to me is that Congress always exempts themselves from most of the laws and reguletions that they pass for the rest of us to live by. This is not a new thing this has been going on for a very long time. For example after they serve one term or shorter as long as they are not found guilty of breaking any laws while in office they get a fuul pension and health care and they exempt themselves from the prorated formula based on years of service that the rest of us have to deal with. The worst of it is that our tax money is paying for their perks and that is only one example.

They are mainly paid by their owners, the banksters, because there is too much public record regarding their stock transactions via the disclosure documents they are required to produce regularly. So, you can do a seach to see what sort of activity they have had in the market. It's a Red Herring to distract us from other uncomfortable facts that are starting to surface, but hasn't yet hit the media.
