As Twitchy has reported, large companies are contemplating hiring freezes and cuts in workers’ hours.
Small business owners, and employees, have reported massive reductions
in hours necessitated by the business-crushing cost of mandatory
insurance coverage for people working over 30 hours per week. Part-time is the new normal.

Small business owners on Twitter have talked about the heartbreak of having to lay off employees.
Now, many are reporting that they will not be hiring new employees for
the foreseeable future. The layoff bomb has resulted in a hiring freeze
avalanche.

I know of one small business closing it's doors, because Obama says the owner has to supply insurance for her 4 employees. That's 5 people now out of work. This was a business that has been supporting 5 families for 20 years. What's 5 families, and another 6, and another 8.....

Wait a minute. Doesn't this create jobs? I'm going to cut my 10 full time employees to 20 hrs.a week and then I can hire 10 more parttime employees at 20hrs. a week. L@@K !! I just created 10 new jobs. Isn't that right? Am I being a good liberal yet?

Ummm No. Not to mention that not only are you wrong, GDP drops as a result.

Here is why, like my company, we're not busting the positions into part-time jobs we're literally sending them overseas -- offshore. You see, it will be cheaper for us to get the $5.00/hr labor and not have to worry about Obamacare than to pay an American $48/hr and x2 for obamacare. Likewise, the going hourly rate for contractors will also go up... People that were paying their own insurance expecting $48/hr will now be expecting $96/hr so THEY can afford Obamacare.

You knocked Mitt for having blind investments in China, but Obama has officially taken the plunge pigeon-holding small businesses like mine into a corner that has one way out -- offshore a betrayal of our own corporate bylaws that has to be re-written thanks to our liar-n-cheat.

They refused to run a hard hitting scorched earth all out camapign. Romney let Obama and the dems. define who he was "A Company Wrecker and Greedy Rich Person." I didn't, a long with most of my friends, vote for Romney. We voted against Obama. All we know about Romney was he was better than Obama.

Businesses said they would have to do this if Obama won. If anyone is surprised they were not paying attention during the campaign. If you voted for Obama and have lost your job-remember that is what you voted for.

It doesn't make sense to hire full time employees unless you absolutely need it.. It's easier to hire part time for general stuff that needs to get done. Keeps overhead down.

And a lot of those one man businesses feel overwhelmed. I can think of one in particular, he's a plumber, but he also works for the city. So when he's not on the city's clock, he's on his own, and he never has time for himself or his family.

You are a complete business tard. Businesses do not exist to create jobs, they are alliances organized by a leader to a common goal to seek out and establish trade or a trade. Saying that businesses are dependent on the employees is as ridiculous as saying a tire depends on a car -- no, it depends on the road, in this case CUSTOMERS. A company can downsize to just one person -- the owner in which the owner acts as the LEADER and the WORKER. It is the EMPLOYEES that depend on a LEADER to organize WORK for them -- not the other way around and it is utter ignorance and contempt to state otherwise.

Your job with home depot for instance -- LOL a company restructured by the "LEADER" Mitt Romney and saved from bankruptcy. IE if it weren't for that leader, YOU WOULD HAVE YOUR FKING JOB. Case and point.

A business' goal is to make a profit. The more people you have involved in providing a service, or producing a product, the more profit you stand to make. Therefore, you are highly dependent on other people.

You are also dependent on customer demand. If you cannot meet the demand, your customers will move on to someone else who is able to meet that demand.

And Romney had NOTHING to do with this company. Bob Nardelli and Frank Blake have been the ones running it out of ATLANTA, not Massachusetts, the most tax-loving state of the Union.

No my God are you really that stupid? Labor costs money. Labor is an expense of sales. If you have too many people working for you, you'll lose money because the cost of the labor will eat away your profit. Here I'll dumb it down for you, if you have 5 guys to sell a 2x4 how much money do you make on it?

Bain Capital restructured Home Depot after it filed chapter 11. Mike is right, if it wasn't for Romney's company you wouldn't have that job.
