"I've expressed my grave concern about the disproportionate response of Russia and that we strongly condemn the bombing outside of South Ossetia," Bush told NBC Sports.

Putin criticized the United States for viewing Georgia as the victim, instead of the aggressor, and for airlifting Georgian troops back home from Iraq on Sunday.

"Of course, Saddam Hussein ought to have been hanged for destroying several Shiite villages," Putin said in Moscow. "And the incumbent Georgian leaders who razed ten Ossetian villages at once, who ran elderly people and children with tanks, who burned civilian alive in their sheds — these leaders must be taken under protection."

The Georgian president, Saakashvili, voiced concern that Russia's true goal was to undermine his pro-Western government, which has sharply angered Moscow by wanting to join NATO. "It's all about the independence and democracy of Georgia," he said during a conference call.

What do you guys think? Does this make Bush a hypocrite?

Many of you are all tied up in the Bush bashing that can't see what is going on. If this battle grows and it could it may involve most of eastern Europe. Which would bring NATO in to play and if that happens we are in play. Open your eyes and clear your hate, your bias is dominating you!!!

if you even stopped to look into the facts on the war, you'd know that iraq is not connected to osama bin laden in any way, shape or form. Its easy to label a group of people "terrorists" when they are killing our soldiers. But lets think, there killing our soldiers because we're killing them, and why? We're killing Iraqis for absolutely nothing, the real war is in afghanistan and there is more evidence to connect bin laden and pakistan than there ever is between iraq and bin laden. You must be a christian, usually those are the most blinded and easily persuaded

Hey KobyTrice, what would you call all those people in Iraq who are killing our soldiers? Friends? They are Terrorists! Try and remember, come on, you can do it. Remember when our troops went into Bagdad? They were welcomed by the Iraqi people. They tore down the Saddam statue! Then I guess we all of a sudden started killing innocent civilians huh? Then they didn't like us anymore. No! They are terrorists that hate us that are in Iraq who are trying to kill us. What Iraqis are we killing? We aren't. If the 'real' war is in Afganistan, why are they trying to kill us in Iraq? Oh, I forgot, it's because we're killing innocent Iraqis.

You must be Muslim! Most Christians I know aren't as ignorant as you are. Besides, who else but a Muslim would not call Muslim terrorists, terrorists?

hey skip...they are killing our soldier because our soldiers are in their homeland killing them, and if someone invades us to free us from bushes and the like, and starts bombing us and killing all civilians here, i guess the invaders will label me an insurgent too, cause i damn sure will be doing my best to keep an invading army from taking over my country as well!

Hey skip: we were welcomed because they believed all the bs too, they had no idea that they would be worse off because americans killing so many innocent iraqi civilians than they were with saddam. the man who toppled saddams statue or helped topple it said with heartfelt sorrow i could feel that he was so sorry now that he did it, the whole country was better off with saddam, and americans have killed many more innocent civilians and children also than saddam ever did, pllus they have nothing now, not even necessities

Iraq violated the terms of their 1991 cease-fire. They hindered
UN investigators for years. They shot at US military planes. The US
went to the UN to make a case for war. The two incidents are not even
    comparable.

We may never know. It really apears that yes Bush is truly a evil liar and pushing a big lie on us. Several You TubeVideos and even a Fox News interview indicate Georgia is the bad guy. Funny USA is only involved or interested in areas with oil fields or pipelines, hey. Ron Paul forwarned once again, Please consider St. Paul Rally September 2nd.

Do you think if we just leave all those oil producing countries alone then we will be safe and secure here in our own little corner of the world? Vote Ron Paul! He's a 'no-brainer'! And so are you! It say's a lot when your opinion of world events are determined by watching YouTube Videos! I just hope you don't watch any Wyle E. Coyote cartoons! Let's see: Bush invades a country that is in the iron grip of a despotic, maniacal murderer. Russian invades a country that has a democratically elected government that is not mistreating its own people. Hmmmm. Let me think a while and see if I can see the difference.

You are out of you liberal mind, to try and compare the two events. You can't compare Oranges to Lemons, both are fruits, but they are different.
Georgia is an ally of the U.S., and has troops in Iraq fighting on our side, so do you think that Pres. Bush would not take Georgia's side in this unwarranted attack on a Soverign State. No, Bush is not a hypocrite, he's coming to the aid of an ally. The U.S. attack in Iraq cannot be compared to the Russian attack on Georgia, the situations are completly different.

its the other way around, you are out of your conservative mind. Lets compare here, the u.s. invaded iraq for what? there was no link to osama bin laden and not a shred of evidence to link it to al queda . At least under Saddam they had order, the only reason they're attacking us is because we are to them. We go over there for a false war, on false allegations, and start killing people, and then when they attack our soldiers we label them terrorists, when lets think about who the real terrorists are. You don't see them burning our babies and killing our women. So whats the difference between them? At least russia can get it done within a week and doesn't have to drag it on for over 5 years putting them into a severe recession while the president gets rich off each lost life

much as i'd like to agree with you, the war isn't over in georgia. doesn't the phrase "these leaders must be taken under protection," concern you. and if so, isn't that just as valid as trying to establish "democracy" with military force? do we now have a plan that we're implementing to get out of iraq, now that the government said very clearly and bluntly that they want us out? if not, then what are we doing there?

killing people to give our troops some fun. they declared georgia on a cease fire, very quickly, even though yes its not over, but just as they declared the iraqi war over quickly, it still isn't over. even if saddam was killing his own people, who gave us the power of being the world police? and isn't bush doing the same to our people? killing them. i mean if were bombing terrorists, he mite as well bomb the white house.

oh we will get out now, bush and company has found a bigger and better war with iran and russia and he cannot be taking on 4 countries at once so he has to get out of iraq so the choice of which country to destroy is not such a tough decision

haha because its working so well. 30000 a year in deaths, compared to what? thats like a 16th of our murder victims in the u.s. each year. Now the deaths of iraqis has soared, and lets think who the real terrorists are. We go over there and false allegations, not providing a shred of evidence to link them to bin laden or al queada and we start our killing spree so our soldiers don't get bored. Then, when they attack back, we label them terrorists. At least they aren't killing our women and burning our children. There is more evidence to link pakistan to bin laden than there ever was to Iraq. At least russia got it done in a week, its taken us years.

I believe that Bush is wrong just like the weapons in Irac .He is to busy sticking his nose in other peoples business. He needs to worry about doing the job we as America gave him, Bush has a problem with trying to be in charge of the world ,just like when 911 happened he went after Hussien instead of Binladen whats the deal, where are allthe weapons ai Irac I am not saying the people dod not need help but Bush needs to quit playing God, he is a liar,Bush lets is aothority go to his head,if some one threatens my family or even try to put us in slavery or take our freedom or ext. I would put a bullet in there head, that is the American way,I dont say Irac was not a needed cause but look at my point there was no weapons of mas distrction,so you tell me is a hypocrite, yes I believe so,
  • Bill juneau 2008/08/17 05:19:42

Pres. Bush is not a liar, he and Congress acted on the information that was received by the CIA. If Bush lied, then so did Congress, they all voted to go to war in Iraq, because they believed there were WMD's there.
Had there been, and we did not go to war there, which only lasted a week or so, then we would have paid a big price for being wrong by not going to war. The actual war with Iraq was over swiftly, the war on terrorist continues. These terrorist are being supported by Iran, who is trying to get nuclear weapons. We need a democratic country in the mideast, and now Iraq is that country.

haha iraq is such a democratic nation its staggering. Under saddam they had more stability. Iraq was never linked to terrorism, and they have never provided a shred of evidence to link it to bin laden or al queada. The only reason they are labeled terrorists is becuase they attack our troops. But lets think, they attack our troops why? Probably because we went over there on false allegations and started massacring their people just to give our troops something to do. Then they attack back and we label them terrorists. So if this is such a war on terror how come we aren't bombing ourselves? And the weapons of mass destruction claim was hindered by president bush himself, he and the white house provided this false evidence and they should be held accountable. It's no wonder congress voted on it when it was all hindered by the president. You must not have watched the news since 2003 because the war is not over. Take another look and see that there is more violence then ever, and when you do, stop and think why. And as for the weapons of mass destruction, that is up to the U.N. to look into, not the U.S. We are not the world police
