Brooklyn DA investigates baby death from herpes following circumcision, should anyone face charges?

a baby get herpes from a rabbi? How can you not charge him with 2nd degree murder? i understand it is a religious ritual but damn the guy has infected 3 other babies enough is enough!

The priest knew, the health department knew and a letter was sent to the parents about this particular priest who had infected two other babies. I'm shocked that all the adults involved didn't think it was dangerous.

While it sounds pretty close to pedophilia, I am sure it is looked at as an ancient custom by the truly Orthodox. Just as we see the barbaric practices perpetrated by the devout muslim, we should recognize these practices as such. I can't say we should ban them as no harm was intended, but there should be repercussions when they go wrong. Its not just religious, but a medical procedure... and any who are not licensed physicians and perform medical procedures that go wrong and cause harm should be punished, in my opinion. And if he knew he had herpes (how could he not?)?... then I would charge him with murder.

So when a Rabbi does it, its fine.
But when I do it I get jail time?

I believe that this 'unusual' practice be banned at the very least in hospitals. I am not one to attack another's religious practices but the welfare of the baby has to be first and forthright. It does seem odd to be that Herpes introduce this way to a baby would kill him so suddenly.

I very much dislike this practice, all circumcision should be banned until they are 14 and able to make their own decision, excluding those with mental illnesses / retardation.

This "metzitzah b’peh" ritual is weird, even sounds pedophiliac... The rabbi or "mohel" should be restrained from perfoming this if he's the one who's indeed infected by the virus...

What an archaic, old world, nonsensical way to treat a child. Both the mother and father as well as the disgusting Rabbi that placed his mouth on the child's genitals should be prosecuted.

if he had known that he had herpes? Yes. If he didnt, which is very likely, no.
