Well... actually... maybe if the cops had better gun control, it would not have taken them 30 minutes to take the guy out!

Some gun control. But we should do whatever it takes to make this country stop looking like a war zone. 3rd mass shooting in less than a month. We need to do something.

By war zone.. do you mean shootouts... to do that, we would have to take the guns away from the police!

I do agree though... we need to rid ourselves of the criminals... unfortunately, nobody really quite knows how to do THAT - - so in the mean time, maybe should concentrate on protecting ourselves from the criminals we can't get rid of.

Warzone was a bit of an overstatement lol. But yea your right, we still have to protect ourselves without getting rid of all our guns and every American understands this. We just don't know how to go about it. Do we ban assault weapons, make ammo more expensive, require stricter background checks, or register our guns?

    Well..

Banning assault weapons... First we have to define them... which is a HUGE debate right now... While that MAY (but probably not) cut down on theater shootings by lunies, it will have no effect at all on robberies, drive by's, car jacking or other crimes done by non-assault weapons. BUT - it will make it a whole lot easier to terrorists or other countries to invade main land US, because the citizens will not be able to join the armies in defense of our nation.

Making ammo more expensive, will ONLY remove ammo from the middle class.. making sport shooting a hobby of the wealthy, (of course Drug Dealers and Gang Bangers also have the funds for expensive hobbies). Expensive ammo will do absolutely nothing to cut down on gun crime.

Stricter Background checks will only make it more of a hassle for law abiding citizens to buy guns... Criminals don't go to the gun store in the first place... they won't pass the lightest of checks. and if you mean Psychology should be part of that background check -- Exactly what prognoses will cause a denial of permit - - another can of worms that the politicians would argue about for years and years.

Register Guns... well... we already do that! Granted, I did not have to register my fathers gun that I inherited, but he did. so it wouldn...

Register Guns... well... we already do that! Granted, I did not have to register my fathers gun that I inherited, but he did. so it wouldn't take much to figure out where it went. and every gun I bought, I did so via Gun Store, and when the store calls the FBI for your background check - the serial number of the gun you are purchasing is given to the FBI, and it become registered (also when your gun was made, a bullet from it was sent to the FBI). So the VAST Majority of guns ARE already registered. Exactly what registering guns does to keep us safe from crime totally excapes me. But it does make it easier for any government to have a method to track and the US civilians during a take over marking every gun owner as a possible insurgent (Which I would be one in a forced take over!).

Nope.. none of those things will make us safer - or prevent a war - in fact they make us more susceptible to war.

We need more control of the proponents of Force and none on guns.
