North Carolina has just enacted the most heinous law since the dark ages. it not only targets gays, but anyone who chooses to have a relationship that doesn't include marriage. i feel we should make them pay a price for that. i call on all free thinking people to boycott the state. no vacations, no purchases of products made there, and all trucks to go around the state when possible, and refuse freight going there if possible.

I will certainly change my plans to include North Carolina in my next vacation. You of course have the option of not going there if you have a problem with what they decided was best for their state.

Yes, Bobby Griffiths' (Prayers for Bobby) "Once Upon a Time" young lover, would like to lead or "Spearhead" the charge to make it "Consequential" for having voted for "Bigotry" and marginalization! No more furniture from the Vendors in "Highpoint" nor smoked hams and bacon from "Smithfield! No to Vacations on the "Carolina Coast!

Going to be kind of hard to boycott the state I am currently living in. I, along with 40% of NC voters, voted against this amendment, but do go ahead and try to hurt our entire state financially. It's not like we already have a high unemployment rate and economy going down the tubes or anything.

i don't really believe that my call for a boycott will be successful, and neither do you. it's just a stronger way to make a point, in my opinion.

The democratic process was carried out and this was the decision that was reached. Would you rather a dictator make the rules and go against the wishes of over 60 percent of the population?
  • Raymond... obi_have 2012/05/09 16:59:18

it shouldn't have been on the ballot. and 60% of the population didn't decide, just 60%of those who voted.

turnout hasn't been fully calculated, but voter turnout is expected to be slightly better the the 37% of 2008. 60% of those people made this decision. you can't claim 60 percent of the popualtion.

they expect slightly over 38% of the eligible voters voted last night. your statement about 60 percent of the population is false.

So you've stated several times. So what? The democratic process still was carried out and those who cared to participate made the decision. That's how it works. Those who didn't go to the polls made their vote passively.

So you support forcing someone to vote who isn't interested enough to do it on their own and probably won't make the effort to inform themselves enough to make a valid decision? So our country's decisions should be based on the whim of the 60% that don't care?

    That's a REALLY bad idea.

democracy works when the populace is informed with all the pertinent info, not just the one sided hate that spewed from the from the rich, via a corrupt scotus decision. it's you who doesn't know or care how a democracy works. your vote and opinions can be bought, wholesale, by your corporate masters.

Only because living in Hawaii I cannot see any reason to go to North Carolina. What do they make there besides I would assume tobacco?

It needs to be pointed out that not everyone voted for this bad law and that a minister gave one of the best speeches on the subject. Shame more people didn't listen to him. But the state will probably regret passing such a stupid law as the young get older.

lol, discrimination is never common sense. Shame you need government telling you who you can and cannot have a relationship with. I have never understood the need for someone to look to government on who they can marry. Can you enlighten me why you need this help?

The states are passing pre-emptive legislation that will block any future Federal govt.attempt to destroy the centuries old tradition of marriage.

You realize of course that if gay marriage is passed, you do not have to marry someone of the same gender? You can still marry someone of the opposite sex. So how is "traditional marriage" affected?

Unfortunately these laws are just a waste of money and tax dollars. At some point, probably within 20 years, these laws will be nullified. (just like pinko commie laws against mixed race marriages)

Fine, call it something else and leave marriage alone.
Mixed race is one thing, they still have the correct plumbing.

There's also people who have no problem with marrying minors or goats.
How do you feel about trampling on their 'rights'?

Couldn't answer the question could you? How is traditional marriage affected? At the time mixed race marriage was a big thing and just as illogical. So why don't you answer the question the supreme court of hawaii ask: What is the compelling interest of the government to prevent it? Nobody else has. lol

If you can get a goat to say I Do and is able to sign, might consider it. There is no comparison with marrying a minor. Minors by definition are deemed not capable of making such decisions.
