"Birth tourism" is a profitable industry in the US that is on the rise. Taking advantage of a loophole in the US immigration system and the 14th amendment, women seeking citizenship for their unborn children enter the US while pregnant and give birth here, having already made travel arrangements through agencies and hotel chains. The 14th amendment which grants citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the United States" was originally intended to make citizens of slave descendants. Now, it is being exploited by foreign tourists and travel agencies and hotel chains that profit from the birth tourism business.
US Customs and Border Protection take into consideration the date a child is due and the length of a person's trip when allowing a person to enter the country, but critics say that this rarely happens. The Department of Homeland Security has no specific regulations banning pregnant foreigners, but they say they do turn away pregnant women with obvious desires to take advantage of free medical care.

border patrol website and see the pictures of the hundreds of illegals
crossing the border in the dark of nigh with packs of drugs and guards
carrying guns to defend the cargo!

every year! Not bitter, just sad that there are poor retirees on

There are decent people in Mexico. The ones coming in illegally
are the discards of their own country, those who take without
giving back the most important thing, integrity! They don't have
any, all they care about is their own hide. I experienced that for
many years. I have generations of American citizens and Mexican
relatives who never left their country. I came here because, even
now, there is a degree of rationality in this country's laws.

are born, even though the law has does not apply to them, they are considered US
citizens! And guess what? Their mothers do get a monthly check, food cards, and
rent subsidies. I know people who work in those agencies and cringe every time they
have to reject an American family for assistance but give it to the illegals because of the raza advocates, and you the bleeding hearts! The rest of clear thinking Americans know what the underground forces are doing to
our nation. Stop your pity for those who chose to violate our laws and came here to
demand protection under the laws they violated. They are shameless enough to demand civil rights when they did not abide by our laws?? Just take the time to read the Mexican Constitution. The Mexican immigration laws are designed to protect Mexico. When you feel like *sighing* think about putting all your money where your
mouth is and supporting all the illegals you want to sponsor. Don't put them on us!
It gets more complicated when the woman or couple is here long-term as say a student earning an advanced degree, or even someone on a working visa. I don't see a problem in these cases as the parent(s) are legally here and are the type who are working hard to better themselves. They are the kind of people we should welcome to our country, imo.
