This posting is just SHEER BS .. This is a local political race ..
OBVIOUSLY .. you've never been to Benton Harbor MI .. (nor its neighbor St Joseph, MI either).
Benton Harbor's "Night of the long knives" is over, the citizens no longer have the right to a voice in their governance. Is it time to petition the UN for redress?

It's over for Benton Harbor, they are now mere spectators of democracy. Their city will be turned into a playground for the rich, a country club they cannot afford to join.
Some of them will get new jobs, serving drinks or carrying clubs for the Koch brothers but most of them will simply be made unwelcome in their own city. They will no longer be able to go to the Lake Michigan park their families have enjoyed for generations because it is being given away to wealthy developers.
I think this is just the beginning, I think conservatives have become so enamored of themselves that they will try to deny democracy to all of us and if we do not stand against it we will lose America entirely.
This is an affront to western civilization and a direct attack on African Americans, who compose 90% of the population of the city. It is time to compile a list of the violations of the UN "Covenant on Human Rights" to which the Unite States is a signatory. That document demands of all members that their citizens have the right to vote and for those votes to be respected, something no longer true in Michigan. It requires that signatories allow their citizens the right to organize labor unions, a right being systematically stripped in state after state. It sets forth the responsibility of each nation to supply it's citizens with an education, a responsibility that is being thwarted by shifting the cost of that education to entities too small to meet it.
I'd like to use this poll as a collection point for accounts of the specific acts of conservatives around the country accosting the rights and privileges of American citizens with the goal of drafting a request to the United Nations for redress of grievances, which is their function under their charter. I've listed above three specific violations of the Covenant on Human rights, but I'm sure there are more.
What I need are the specific laws being passed and how they affect the people involved. Below you will find a link to the covenant, please use it as a guide. I see good arguments for sanctions against the conservative movement on Articles 1,2,6,8,9,10,12, and 13. If democrats are too wimpy to protect the American people, we'll just do it ourselves.

Any alleged violations of anyone's civil right will be handled in the US courts according to US law.
We don't pick out groups of people and tell them their votes don't matter.
What part of the Constitution is that exception in? It isn't specifically prohibited, but some people are under the impression that we all have the right to vote for our government, Mr. Jefferson said in the Declaration of Independence that "governments derive their just powers from the consent of the people," are the citizens of Benton Harbor not people? Are the Benton Harbor Mayor and city council not government?
What else, besides the right to vote, about America pisses you off? Does your Red Branch come from Red China? They don't get to vote, maybe you'd be more comfortable there.
The criminal class loses the right to vote.
Better dead than red.

I am sure that should the governor have been a democrat and corrupt city officials republicans the author of this post would be gushing with praises in support of such action. This post is not about voters rights it is aimed against the governor the marxist left does not like.
The question in the title makes clear that the author is proposing to surrender US sovereignty to the UN which is now dominated and under control of marxist regimes of all kinds. The idea of such surrender is treasonous in its nature in its implications. Once US submits to UN control even in a small matter the freedoms Americans enjoy now will be taken away by the enemies.
From your comment is obvious to all readers that you would use anything to eliminate conservative movement so the marxists would be unopposed in any way and free to advance their agenda of installing socialism and eventually communism.
The words labels; progressive and liberal are code words for marxism communism. The once proud and independent Labor Unions have been completely taken over by marxists of all stripes and a mere extensions to the communist party. These labor unions are about advancing communism and don't...

The words labels; progressive and liberal are code words for marxism communism. The once proud and independent Labor Unions have been completely taken over by marxists of all stripes and a mere extensions to the communist party. These labor unions are about advancing communism and don't give a damn about workers rights. They are nearly identical in their servitude to the CPUSA as the official labor unions in the communist bloc countries. Serve the commie masters is their goal never mind workers.
Corruption is the responsibility of the Judicial Branch of government, not the Executive, and our founders set it up that way on purpose.
I keep hearing about all the corruption that was supposedly in Benton Harbor, but no-one seems to have anything but gossip for evidence. Do you have any evidence? If there is such a problem though, the corrupt need to be prosecuted, not replaced without the consent of the governed.
Yes, I would do almost anything to rid our country of the current conservative movement, but evolution will take care of it eventually if we can't. The conservative brain is wired differently than normal people and they are less suited to modern civilization. They have an enlarged fear center in their brains, something that was an advantage when we were prey animals but is increasingly useless as science and knowledge explain all the things we used to fear.
There's much that Maddow didn't mention, beginning with the fact that Harris was appointed not by Pscholka or Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, but by former Gov. Jennifer Granholm, a Democrat.
That occurred, incidentally, after a state review found the city's pension system was underfunded by $4 million, its cash reserves dwindled from $1.7 million to $300,000 in three years and the city was spending between $80,000 to $100,000 annually in overdraft fees. The same week that Benton Harbor officials forcefully told state officials at a hearing that they didn't need an emergency financial manager, they had to ask the state treasury for an advance on funds to make their payroll.
What happened last week: Harris notified the Benton Harbor City Commission and other city boards that he's using the revamped law to assume dictatorial powers over city operations.
That certainly is causing a stir. But it's a separate issue from the controversy involving Jean Klock Park.
And here's where Maddow's narrative really falls apart. Despite her implication that Benton Harbor city officials have been holding the fort against the park's potential development, the exact opposite is true.

And here's where Maddow's narrative really falls apart. Despite her implication that Benton Harbor city officials have been holding the fort against the park's potential development, the exact opposite is true.
In fact, the development already has happened — thanks to the Benton Harbor City Commission, which is leasing 22 acres of the 90-acre park for three holes of the 18-hole Golf Club at Harbor Shores, most of which is on an adjacent site. In fact, the city is a co-defendant in lawsuits filed by park advocates.
There's also a counter-narrative on Whirlpool's role. Here's the other perspective: After the 2003 riot in Benton Harbor, Whirlpool tried to be a good corporate citizen by donating land and lending money for a $500 million upscale housing and golf course development that many said would create jobs, raise real estate values and generate some economic activity in a stricken community.
In fact, the PGA Senior Championship is coming to the Golf Club at Harbor Shores in 2012 and 2014, a nice boost for Benton Harbor.
Moreover, even if one buys the idea that Pscholka, Upton, Snyder and Whirlpool are plotting a takeover of Jean Klock Park, it's unclear how Harris, a former chief financial officer for the city of Detroit, fits into that picture — and it's Harris who is calling the shots in Benton Harbor right now.
I like Rachel Maddow. In fact, she's so well-known in my household that she's simply known as "Rachel." I understand her concerns with the new emergency financial manager law, the commercialization of parkland, the ways corporate America can run roughshod over community interests.

New emergency financial manager law improves expediency, but at expense of democracy, says analysis by think tank.
But as the story of Benton Harbor shows, these issues are much, much more complicated than good versus evil. What's worse for Benton Harbor: A financial manager with dictatorial powers or an utterly dysfunctional city government? Are Benton Harbor residents better served by 90 acres of parkland, or 68 acres and a new source of revenue for cash-strapped city coffers? Is it insensitive to build an upscale development in a downtrodden community, as Maddow suggests? Or does it show that the business community hasn't turned its back on Benton Harbor?
Are there reasons to be upset about what's happening in Benton Harbor? Absolutely. But are Maddow's villains really the villains here? Or are they serving as useful props to score political points? It's interesting that in accusing Republicans and Whirlpool of exploiting a vulnerable community to serve their own agenda, Maddow does the very same thing.

apparently this has gone on for too long. The development will bring MUCH
needed JOBS and REVENUE to the town, which in return will bring MORE
business and jobs!
{Michigan has for years used a state-appointed emergency manager system when troubled cities and schools ran aground financially. Benton Harbor's emergency manager, Joseph Harris, was appointed by former Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm more than a year ago}
Apparently the fiscal decay needed to be more aggressively addressed! Also,
there was gross incompetency and mishandling of funds.
It is certainly NOT a matter for the UN (united nuts)
God this really saddens me. Ah, but will these soldiers be Americans or some forgein nationals who will only listen to their masters.
I thought about going to Washington, but since the Michigan fascists are republicans and the Justice Dept are democrats it would devolve into another partisan bickering match which will solve no problem and will afford them time to establish a precedent.
I know you're a conservative Jack, but please tell me you're not in favor of rescinding the right to vote for American citizens? Here in Wisconsin new laws have just taken the right to vote from 20% of our citizens, the poorest twenty percent. I may disagree with who you choose to vote for, but I've worn the uniform of the United States and taken an oath to protect it's citizens and their rights, and I stand by that oath.
Leaders in the United States get their just powers from the consent of the governed right? That consent can only be granted in an election, and this move makes local elections in Michigan meaningless.
You're a vet too aren't you? Did you offer your life to watch even the concept of elections be attacked by our leaders?
CNN even showed the plans last month.
In 1917, J. N. Klock and his wife Carrie bought a significant stretch of lakeshore including tall dunes and 2,950 feet (900 m) of shoreline from E. K. Warren, donor of Warren Dunes, and deeded the land to the City of Benton Harbor. They gave the land in memory of their daughter, Jean, who died in early childhood. The Klock deed stipulates that the property be used for bathing beach, park purposes or other public purposes. At the park dedication, Klock stated,
"In taking an inventory of life, we all take stock of the circumstances surrounding the happiest moments. The giving of this park to the city of Benton Harbor has been to Mrs. Klock and myself, the happiest moment of our lives. The deed of this park in the courthouse of St. Joseph will live forever. Perhaps some of you do not own a foot of ground, remember then, that this is your park, it belongs to you. Perhaps some of you have no piano or phonograph, the roll of the water murmuring in calm, roaring in storm, is your music, your piano and music box. The beach is yours, the drive is yours, the dunes are yours, all yours. It is not so much a gift from my wife and myself, it’s a gift from a little child. See to it that the park is the children's.”
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out --
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me -- and there was no one left to speak for me.
That poem can be Americanized now, first they came for Benton Harbor.
