Aurora, Colorado has one of the strictest gun laws in the country, yet it still didn't prevent this shooting.

Well of course, they conveniently forget the fact that the population of the United States is nearly 62 times higher than that of Norway, so of course we'd look worse, having a population of around 313 million.

I can also guarantee that there are other differences that probably haven't been taken into account either.

It shows we need less and have more folk open carrying.

You don't even need a permit to open carry in Colorado. So why didn't that stop this?

Question of the century. Not enough people packing, as far as I'm concerned.

If anything it showed that gun free zones result in massacres. It also shows that our government will do anything to pass the UN small arms treaty.

    'gun free zones' that's why.

Maybe we just have armed guards at gun-free-zones instead of hoping enough citizens show up with guns of their own and know how to shoot straight.

I'm sure that's what the government has planned complete with TSA molestation, naked body scanners, and complete removal of your liberty and dignity in the name of safety. No thanks.

There are sick people out there, and there is a big part of me, that feels if they knew more people could defend themsleves, that that would deter a lot of people who use aggression from doing stupid stuff. Then, there are the fools
like George Zinnerman who have a false sense of security because of their gun, provoke a bad situation to the point where they might have been justified under the law should have the boy started beating him to true near death (in his case I am not entirely convinced, that he was to that point), but could have avoided the situation if he had not stalked the kid and allowed the police to do their thing. But the problem is the person carrying the gun's perception & bad judgment. The bigger point is bad guys don't care about gun laws. DUH. And those that do, usually behave responsibly. Disarming citizens doesn't seem like it will solve nut jobs from doing this sort of thing.

"Bad guys" might care about gun laws if we made discharging a gun while committing a crime = automatic death penalty.

That does not mean total gun control. I am just hoping for a little sanity with the gun laws.

Part of that sanity would be enforcing and that includes stopping holder bloomberg from straw purchases. There really is nothing wrong with the laws in place except they often aren't enforced

To me it mean we could use more legal gun owners trained to defend themselves to stop idiots like this.

Means they already have the ability to carry guns there. You want to force them carry them?

Please don't come back with any more stupid responses. Do you know in CO they can preempt state law in each city? What are the ordinances for that city? Is there a ban on carrying openly or even concealed in theaters in that state? Does the theater post a no guns policy which is their right in that state. Until you learn all that and more you really have nothing intelligent to say. The only thing worse than admitting your ignorance is pretending you know more than you do. That is a prime example of a little knowledge being dangerous. I would bet you are not even that familiar with carry laws i your own state. No do me a favor and wander along. I have little patience for fools and ignorance

I think having a guard in the theater would be safer then having a crowd with guns in their pockets.

Let's put it this way you don't think it through enough. Why would some minimum wage minimally trained rent-a-cop be worth anything. All he would be is the first target. The range I used to belong to here allowed a local security company to shoot and practice there for free. They even trained their guys there. Well whenever they should up to shoot the rest of us left for safety reasons.

Any store I go into with security or even malls in my area are not as well armed, trained or practiced as I am. I don't want my life in the hands of then incompetent
  • sodabox Headhun... 2012/07/24 18:29:47

If you don't trust a rent-a-cop then why would you trust a theater full of random Joes-with-open-carry?

why do you keep coming back asking stupid questions. I trust myself and I carry. Maybe you would be better off looking for work than sitting on her asking stupid questions

Everyone in that theater should have been packing, and when that whack job started firing, they should have blown him away.

You've never seen trained military, taking out "Hagiee", have you?

    Why do you think you "government" fears us? Simple;

We know, we are trained, and[...] won't stand in our path.

People are dumb. I pack in grocery stores, restaurants, theaters, malls, regardless of what the sign on the door says for this exact reason.

Returning well place fire can trump spray-and-pray. Even if it only makes the other guy keep his head down, precious seconds are bought allowing people to obtain cover. Body armor merely reduces the severity of a bullets impact. The pain can still reduce effectiveness enough to save lives and possibly allow capture. What would you do? Throw your purse at him?
