Start investing in horse and buggy Securities folks, because Obama seems bent on retro-fitting America back to the 19th Century through strangulation of our oil supplies.
Around 40% of our oil imports come from Canada and Mexico, but mostly from Canada. They’ve made massive new petroleum discoveries and want to pipe it to the United States. But after diddling the Canadians for years and finding no significant environmental problems, Obama nixed this pipeline.
Canada’s conservative government is very friendly to us. It would be cheaper for them to run a pipeline to western Canada ports and have the Chinese pick it up for transport to Peking. But the Canadians stood firm with America and tolerated Obama’s games. Well, no more.
On 19 January 2012, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper had enough. He called Obama and stated “Canada will continue to work to diversify its energy exports… and expanding our markets, including the growing Asian Market.” http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-01-19/canada-pledges-to-se... As it stands now, this means the Chinese will be getting oil needed for American growth.
Why on earth does Obama keep stiffing our friends while at the same time, handing American wealth and treasure over to 3rd world nations who are not exactly friendly to us? This happened a bit over one year ago when Obama went to Brazil. He gave them billions in American dollars for Petrobas to develop their huge off shore oil reserves.
What do the Brizilians do? They will be selling their oil to China http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2012/jan/19/china-gets-ju... and telling the United States to drop dead.
We’ve run into a bit of luck relative to oil, but it happened under the Bush administration. Serious development of the Bakken Oil Formation that covers North Dakota and portions of South Dakota and Montana was begun back in 2007 by EOG Resources of Texas, although Obama takes credit for the increase in our production.
So while most Americans seem more consumed with watching “Dancing with the Stars,” than the future of their own country, the big question looms over us like a specter floating above our national grave.
Why does Obama seem intent on destroying America’s future growth by starving us of the energy we need and making us dependent on nations that hate us?
MAJOR OIL PIPELINES IN AMERICA. A NEW ONE IS NO BIG DEAL

LUCK. bush doesnt get credit for the discovery, obama doesnt either. some other guys do that no one talks about. The only point that matters is that our production is up, and yet prices are still also up. Obviously how much physical oil we have doesn't matter in regards to price. We even exported more oil in 2011 than we imported, so why aren't you fighting to keep our oil in our borders and cut ourselves off from the global market? why are you fighting for more imports when most of the time we fight for less imports? what are you so upset about?
The hearing will examine the homeland security consequences of nationwide refinery closures – including three in the Philadelphia area – both in terms of threats to critical infrastructure and our dependence on imports from unstable parts of the world.
“The closure of two refineries and the expected closure of a third in our area not only mean significant job and economic loss,” said Meehan. “They’ve also resulted in a significant decline in our country’s refining capacity, causing our country to have greater reliance on foreign oil imports from the Middle East, Africa and Venezuela. This brings up important questions about how this could increase the risks to domestic critical infrastructure and threaten supply shortages in the case of a global crisis.”
It's a global concern. Search "refinery closures" and see how the problem is being handled by other nations. France is "guaranteeing no refinery sales or closures for at least 5 years. Australia is trying to increase refining capacity. and China is building more refineries than anywhere in the world. Socialist nations like Bolivia, Venezuela, Brasil Argentina etc are nationalizing their energy industries.
Perhaps that's the solution desired by this administration?
To be fair to GW Bush, a fair amount of the current high in US oil production is due to wells approved under the Bush administration. However, Mr. Obama did not stop them.
While our nation continue to lose good paying jobs and gain temporary teen worthy jobs, the fool Reid stis on bills that could begin to move our economy along.
One thing I find funny is that the progressives call the Republicans the Party of No. Perhaps it is because that's what Harry Reid says when asked if any jobs bill will come to vote. So far he's said no at least 30 times.
Unfortunately for you, there is a congressional record that prove your statement wrong.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure what the Congressional Record may prove, since it can be changed by members of Congress after the fact.
So, why don't you go just go ahead and tell me what lies you believe?
Some of us don't get our information from spin doctors, cspan is juicy enough.
I've already told you, I read the bills and watch cspan to hear the politicians defend their positions. I use non partisan sites to monitor a politicians best interest, the campaign contributors.
Op-ed and pundits opinions have the same value as anyone else's.
The people who refuse to see what progressives are doing to our economy, national security and defense.
A crisis since every cent increase in gasoline costs our economy $1.4 billion dollars a day, and it wont go to waste. He's allowing the buzz on the Keystone pipeline drown out the very real crisis of the drastic reduction of American refining capacity.
With the dollar's decline in purchasing power since then, Obama's desired oil price is around $8 a gallon now.
Socialism is an economic system characterized by public ownership and centralized
planning of all major industries (manufacturing, services, and energy), banks and insurance companies, agribusiness, transportation, the media, and medical facilities. Socialism prioritizes human needs and eliminates the profit motive that drives war, ecological destruction, and inequalities based on gender, race, nationality and sexuality. Socialism must be international so that global resources can be shared. No country can be truly independent of the global economy. Socialism has no room for unborn babies, old people, and the disabled, because they are not assets but a debit, to Socialism proprietorship.

2 out of 4 phases of the XL project have already been completed.
It's the section connecting Oklahoma to the Gulf and the section connecting Canada to Nebraska that's being shut down.
Why can't the southern portion be constructed while he dithers some more?
Here is a more detailed map of the entire area running through the Ogallala Aquifer.
The blue line near the top right is what his argument is based upon.
I doubt those who are screaming the loudest even know there are this many pipelines that currently run through the area.
