The Bank of America employee on the phone explained to the man there would be a $30 fee.
That was valid for only six months. When the man/customer asked about a permanent stop he was told he could renew.
“Yes sir, you can renew your stop payment six months from now. For an additional $30."
“Well, technically, you can renew stop payments indefinitely” she said, as if this were the glimmer of hope I was searching for. “However, you will still have to pay $30 each time.”
So, Bank of America will charge $30, every six months, till death, to cancel a single check.
The article ends with mentioning the $45 billion in bailout money that taxpayers handed over to Bank of America.
