Back on the trail, Obama clings to the teleprompter

Evil 1 2012/08/02 23:15:58
President Obama spoke to supporters in Florida this afternoon, but was careful to stick to his script, relying heavily on his teleprompters.

The president campaigned without teleprompters last month, when he made his controversial "you didn't build that" remark about business owners.

A campaign aide insisted last week that Obama's slip up wouldn't change the campaign's teleprompter strategy.

Since they've been available, I don't think there's been a President or Presidential candidate who hasn't used a TelePrompter almost all of the time. It's no big deal.

I agree every President has used them since becoming available. But Obama has taken their use to new levels never seen before. If you research it you will see this is the fact. GW Bush didn't like teleprompters. He was known to use large index cards as he preferred them. Reagan did use teleprompters quite a bit but not to the extent that Obama has.

Even if that's true (and I'm not stipulating that it is or isn't), I don't see that it makes any difference with regard to his qualifications, or non-qualifications , to be the POTUS. It's so many of these insignificant details that have no bearing on the candidates' qualifications that are blown into "items of major import" that cause me to disregard much of what anyone has to say.

(Honest question: Have you researched how much each POTUS has used a teleprompter since they've become available? How did you do it? How can you be sure that your data was reliable and objective? And finally, the first, real question: What difference does it make?)

I don't have a problem with Presidents using a teleprompter. What I have a problem with is a President that cannot give a basic speech without the use of one. If the POTUS is incapable of giving a small basic speech without a teleprompter because he becomes a stutterin, babbling fool it raises concerns as to his abilities under pressure.

Again, I could care less about his use of a teleprompter. I just wish he would take impromptu questions regarding matters that are important to the US and the economy rather than speaking from the teleprompter and talking about matters that are in all reality insignificant and have no real bearing on the important issues. Issues such as the economy, unemployment, job creation, deficit reduction, etc.

And answering your question, yes I did research it. I read any information that was available regarding teleprompter use both pro and con. From that information I drew my conclusion. As for the data being reliable and objective, how can anyone know that any information is reliable and objective in today's political world? I just used common sense and looked at all information provided. I also watched videos that were available of past Presidents giving speeches and used them for comparison. And I stated above why it matters, at least to me...

When the POTUS tries to give a speech numerous times without a teleprompter and failsso miserably each time that he has to go back to relying on the teleprompter it speaks volumes about him. Case in point, "you didn't build that business".
