Kitson & Partners and Florida Power & Light Co. are building Babcock Ranch, the first solar-powered city. At 17,800 acres Babcock Ranch will be powered by a 75-megawatt solar plant costing $300 million.
Babcock Ranch will have commercial buildings with rooftop solar panels and charging kiosks for electric vehicles.
But is the world not ready for a solar-powered city? With the U.S. in a recession and billions of bailout money being served out, should we be putting the Babcock Ranch money somewhere else?

Despite the cries that the sky is falling nothing is going to happen to our ability to spend our own money on things that we want to spend them on. If this is a private enterprise putting millions of dollars back into the economy I say it's exactly what we need.
