Yeah, I know. But that is how they are still being referred to in many books. And lets face it, they do have a bearish look. But whatever they are, I like 'em. And when I reach heaven, I really want Jesus Christ to give me a platypus for a pet.

Actually....."Heather the Feather" at the Texas Tavern on Kings Cross in Sydney is my memory of Australia. Heather had had been a WWII donut dolly rumor had it, and 30 years on, she worked at the Tavern and was a total delight. She wore a bright ostrich plume in her hair and was wonderfully full of life, and danced with all of us "Yanks", when we pulled in to port (and the tavern) after a multi-national exercise.
Very fond memory of all that and how welcoming the Australian people were to us Americans.

Envious of how successful their sports programmes are at creating elite athletes. Australia is per capita, the most successful nation athletically.

I used to think only positive thoughts about Australia until I read about how the government was kowtowing to Islam. Now I only think negative thoughts and I give Australia a thumbs down!

And it is not about Islam itself, it's about governments all over the world acquiescing to the customs and habits of Muslims. When in Rome.........

I'm disappointed you feel this way about Australia.
You have read one piece of information about our Government's thoughts on Islam. I think it is unfair to make a judgement after being exposed to such limited information.

I am very accepting of Muslims and their customs and habits and we are a very multi-culteral country.

I give Australia the thumbs UP!

The Indian Pacific train. I travelled on it from Sydney to Perth (Gold Kangaroo).
Good weather, Sydney Harbour, Royal Botanical Gardens. And in Perth, Kings Park.
