Obama administration for Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack said at a White House press briefing that he prays for rain to end the drought. Vilsack said, “I get on my knees every day. And I’m saying an extra prayer now. If I had a rain prayer or a rain dance I could do, I would do it.”
Tom Flynn, the executive director of the Council for Secular Humanism, accused Vilsack of crossing the as a government official. Flynn accused Vilsack of violating the Constitution. “...praying for rain? That’s not just government entangling itself with religion, that’s government publicly practicing it, and wallowing in superstition.”
Flynn said Vilsack "sends the wrong message to distraught farmers when the Agriculture Secretary suggests that the best response is to pray. For a Cabinet official to recommend prayer as a solution or call attention to his own devotions may violate the Constitution’s prohibition against establishment of religion. Most important, though, is that prayer doesn’t work. But if you want to test the power of prayer yourself, consider this. Apparently Secretary Vilsack’s been praying for rain every day; how’s that working out?”

Take care,
Take care,
I don't see it as my place at all to denigrate the beliefs of others. I fail to see why people, such as atheists, who don't care for religion spend so much time obsessing over it!
I'm no fan of celebrity gossip, But I don't care if others do, and I sure as hell don't form groups of like-minded people to go after those who do.
That is just how I see it. I don't believe in religion, and I feel no need to force my non-beliefs upon anyone else.
Take care,
Nowhere in Vilsack's comment was it stated that Congress or any governmental body was going to force everyone to pray, whether it be on their knees or in dance, etc. He was making a personal statement, one that has zero authority over the actions and beliefs of others, and thus cannot establish religion in any form. As such, it is not unconstitutional. This is such a simple concept - I don't understand how idiots like Flynn can feel so justified spewing this sewage.
Grace to you, Glory to God!
I realize you're trying to be funny but I would say your points match the typical MO of an atheist who have a tendency to take isolated snippets of information out of context and base an entire argument about them without ever directly seeing the bigger picture.
I was of course referring to ideology while you of course were aiming at minutia and missing the forest for the trees.
Grace to you, Glory to God!
Of all the problems that Obama is accused of mismanaging or neglecting, this is not one of them. Prayer or not, it is unreasonable to expect the President to make it rain.
Maybe Obama can blast Biden into outer space to search for water that can be sent back to Earth.
