As president, who will be respected more in the world, George W. Bush or Barack Obama?

Fellow Americans,

Please know: I am Black; I grew up in the segregated South. I did not vote for Barack Obama; I wrote in Ron Paul's name as my choice for president. Most importantly, I am not race conscious. I do not require a Black president to know that I am a person of worth, and that life is worth living. I do not require a Black president to love the ideal of America .

I cannot join you in your celebration. I feel no elation. There is no smile on my face. I am not jumping with joy. There are no tears of triumph in my eyes. For such emotions and behavior to come from me, I would have to deny all that I know about the requirements of human flourishing and survival - all that I know about the history of the United States of America , all that I know about American race relations, and all that I know about Barack Obama as a politician. I would have to deny the nature of the "change" that Obama asserts has come to America .

Most importantly, I would have to abnegate my certain understanding that you have chosen to sprint down the road to serfdom that we have been on for over a century. I would have to pretend that individual liberty has no value for the success of a human life. I would have to evade your rejection of the slender reed of capitalism on which your success and mine depend. I would have to think it somehow rational that 94 percent of the 12 million Blacks in this country voted for a man because he looks like them (that Blacks are permitted to play the race card), and that they were joined by self-declared "progressive" whites who voted for him because he doesn't look like them.

I would have to wipe my mind clean of all that I know about the kind of people who have advised and taught Barack Obama and will fill posts in his administration - political intellectuals like my former colleagues at the Harvard University 's Kennedy School of Government.

I would have to believe that "fairness" is equivalent of justice. I would have to believe that man who asks me to "go forward in a new spirit of service, in a new service of sacrifice" is speaking in my interest.. I would have to accept the premise of a man that economic prosperity comes from the "bottom up," and who arrogantly believes that he can will it into existence by the use of government force. I would have to admire a man who thinks the standard of living of the masses can be improved by destroying the most productive and the generators of wealth.

Finally, Americans, I would have to erase from my consciousness the scene of 125,000 screaming, crying, cheering people in Grant Park, Chicago irrationally chanting "Yes We Can!" Finally, I would have to wipe all memory of all the times I have heard politicians, pundits, journalists, editorialists, bloggers and intellectuals declare that capitalism is dead - and no one, including especially Alan Greenspan, objected to their assumption that the particular version of the anti-capitalistic mentality that they want to replace with their own version of anti-capitalism is anything remotely equivalent to capitalism.

So you have made history, Americans. You and your children have elected a Black man to the office of the president of the United States , the wounded giant of the world. The battle between John Wayne and Jane Fonda is over - and that Fonda won. Eugene McCarthy and George McGovern must be very happy men. Jimmie Carter, too. And the Kennedys have at last gotten their Kennedy look-a-like. The self-righteous welfare statists in the suburbs can feel warm moments of satisfaction for having elected a Black person.

So, toast yourselves: 60s countercultural radicals, 80s yuppies and 90s bourgeois bohemians. Toast yourselves, Black America . Shout your glee Harvard, Princeton , Yale, Duke, Stanford, and Berkeley. You have elected not an individual who is qualified to be president, but a Black man who, like the pragmatist Franklin Roosevelt, promises to - Do Something! You now have someone who has picked up the baton of Lyndon Johnson's Great Society. But you have also foolishly traded your freedom and mine - what little there is left - for the chance to feel good.
There is nothing in me that can share your happy obliviousness.

A Win For The Obama Worshippers

When John F. Kennedy was elected president, I did not believe it was possible to top the Kennedy cult fantasy craziness summed up by violinist Isaac Stern when he visited the White House:

I felt as though I were inside a golden coach drawn by four pure-bred white horses into the glitter of mythic Camelot.

I was wrong. Obama-mania has it all beat.

Now, while I acknowledge that Obama’s ascendancy (he is “The One,” after all) to the White House shows Americans have rejected racism, his demigod anointment by the masses indicates way too many Americans have not eschewed the allures of the personality cult. Here is LA LA Land, some of our most highly educated and creative have seen fit to use their children to praise “The One:” Sing for Change: Barack Kids Serenade Dear Leader Obama. Somewhere else, children have been put in military uniforms and made to give special solutes in pledge to Obama: Obama Youth - Junior Fraternity Regiment. If “Obama Youth” and massed cherubic child voices of praise for “The One” remind you of Kim Jun Il worship or Mao worship or others that came to a bad end, you probably have not overcome your racism and are in need of reeducation.

So while we get ready to view the grand 150 million dollar historical revision of Abraham Lincoln as a Democrat (that’s change, right?) by Obama on Abe’s Bible during the inaugural spectacle about to unfold, I believe it may be a good idea to review who really won when the votes were counted. The best summation of that I’ve seen was allegedly an editorial by London’s Daily Mail. I cannot find it on the Mail site and The Canada Free Press could find no source to accurately attribute it either. So I offer it with the admission that I would love to plagiarize it as my own ala a number of Obama’s speech lines, but I’m really not a Michael Moore kinda guy:

Obama’s Victory

A victory for the hysterical Oprah Winfrey, the mad racist preacher Jeremiah Wright, the mainstream media who abandoned any sense of objectivity long ago, Europeans who despise America largely because they depend on her, comics who claim to be dangerous and fearless but would not dare attack genuinely powerful special interest groups.

A victory for Obama-worshippers everywhere. A victory for the cult of the cult. A man who has done little with his life but has written about his achievements as if he had found the cure for cancer in between winning a marathon and building a nuclear reactor with his teeth.

Victory for style over substance, hyperbole over history, rabble-raising over reality.

A victory for Hollywood, the most dysfunctional community in the world. Victory for Streisand, Spielberg, Soros and Sarandon.

Victory for those who prefer welfare to will and interference to independence. For those who settle for group think and herd mentality rather than those who fight for individual initiative and the right to be out of step with meager political fashion.

Victory for a man who is no friend of freedom. He and his people have already stated that media has to be controlled so as to be balanced, without realizing the extraordinary irony within that statement. Like most liberal zealots, the Obama worshippers constantly speak of Fox and Limbaugh, when the vast bulk of television stations and newspapers are drastically liberal and anti-conservative. Senior Democrat Chuck Schumer said that just as pornography should be censored, so should talk radio. In other words, one of the few free and open means of popular expression may well be cornered and beaten by bullies who even in triumph cannot tolerate any criticism and opposition.

A victory for those who believe the state is better qualified to raise children than the family, for those who prefer teachers’ unions to teaching and for those who are naively convinced that if the West is sufficiently weak towards its enemies, war and terror will dissolve as quickly as the tears on the face of a leftist celebrity.

A victory for social democracy even after most of Europe has come to the painful conclusion that social democracy leads to mediocrity, failure, unemployment, inflation, higher taxes and economic stagnation. A victory for intrusive lawyers, banal sentimentalists, social extremists and urban snobs

Congratulations, America!

By the way, your education camp invitation will be mailed sometime during the next four years and attendance is mandatory

AT LEAST WE KNOW WHERE BUSH CAME FROM. HE DID NOT HAVE RADICAL ASSOCIATES, HE WAS A SIMPLE MAN, WITH SIMPLE MANNERS AND KEPT US SAFE FOR 7 YEARS, AND ALL THAT HE HAS DONE IN THE PAST SEVEN YEARS MAY NOT BE KNOWN FOR MANY YEARS IN ORDER TO KEEP AMERICA SAFE. BUT HE RATHER KEEP AMERICA SAFE, THAN ATTEMPT TO SAVE FACE WHEN THE PUBLIC SEE HIM AS THE WORSE PRESIDENT EVER. WHAT DID YOU FEEL LIKE SEPT 11? WHO WOULD YOU HAVE TRUSTED MORE TO HANDLE THE JOB, OBAMA OR BUSH?
I HAVE NOT SEEN ONE THING OBAMA HAS EVER DONE IN HIS LIFETIME OTHER THAN WRITE BOOKS ABOUT HIMSELF, WHICH HE CONTRADICTS HIS OWNSELF. HE IS A MAN OF ELOGANT WORDS BUT I DONT SEE THAT THE ACTIONS HE PLANS TO TAKE IS GOING TO HELP THE USA. HE WILL CONTINUE TO BLAME BUSH, BUT ALSO HE WILL BLAME THE CITIZINES SEEING HOW DURING HIS INOGURATION HE SPOKE MORE OF WHAT OUR JOB WAS TO DO, NOT HIS OWN. I FEEL HE WOULD FIT IN BETTER BEING A PROFESSOR OF LITATURE, SINCE HE CAN MAKE A PILE OF SHIT SOUND LIKE THE BEST PIECE OF CHOCOLATE CAKE YOU WILL EVER TASTE IN YOUR LIFE, IF YOU WILL JUST DO YOUR PART NOW AND JUST TAKE A BITE. HE NEEDS TO BE IN A SCHOOL ROOM NEXT TO AYER. FOR SO FAR ALL HE HAS DONE IS DECIEVE THE NATION. HE DONT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN BLACK AND WHITE. HIS DIFFERENCE IS MADE BETWEEN THE RICH AND THE POOR. HE DIDNT LET THE POOR PEOPLE WHO DIDNT HAVE THE MONEY BUT DONATED TO HIS CAMPAIGN THAT HE HAD SO MANY ELITE AND CELEBRIITIES BACKING HIM, HE MADE IT SOUND LIKE IT WAS THE TWO DOLLAR TEN DOLLAR AND FIVE DOLLAR DONATIONS THAT MADE HIM GET AS MUCH MONEY AS HE DID FOR HIS CAMPAIGN. NOT UNTIL TODAY, DID THEY REALLY SEE WHAT A MOCKERY HE HAD MADE OF THEM K, AND THEY EVEN WROTE IN PLEASE DONT FORGET MAIN STREET. FOR MAIN STREET WAS NOT WHO YOU SAW ON T.V AND I THINK THAT IS SORRY AS SHIT. AND THE PEOPLE WHO THINK REST OF THE WORLD RESPECTS OBAMA MORE THAN BUSH IT IS ONLY BECAUSE THEY KNEW THEY HAD SOMETHING TO FEAR WITH BUSH, BUT OBAMA IS A SOFT HANDED MARTIN LUTHER KING IMITATOR. I TRIED TODAY VERY HARD TO LOOK BEYOND HIS RHETORIC, BUT I STILL SEE A SUPERFICIAL MAN THAT NOBODY REALLY KNOWS.
