Article at Salon.com says that Tampa is an example of what a Tea Party city looks like...do you agree?

So, we don't have high speed rail, thanks Rick Scott for not saddling us with that behemoth failure! We aren't commuter friendly. We're too spread out for the liking of the lefties! We have strip clubs...you might want to look up Joe Redner to see about that one. We're everything that's wrong with how a liberal would build a city, so why not blame in on the Tea Party? Well, I think the answer to that is pretty obvious. I've lived here since 1963 and while there has always been a desire to have people live downtown...APPARENTLY THEY DON'T WANT TO!

Maybe, Detroit is the example they want us to follow? Newsflash libs, some people like space and don't enjoy being crammed into a city. If a disaster happens, the city dwellers are likely to eat each other!

Read the article, it's a real snob fest!

Well, according to the article, the republican leadership is doing exactly what their constituents want them to do. Sounds like true representative government to me. Better than having liberals cramming things down your throat and raising your taxes to pay for it because they think it's what you "should" have. *cough *cough Obamacare.

I pray for every ones safety at the convention. I hear that the Tampa police said Tuesday that they confiscated pipes, bricks and other "suspicious" items from the rooftop of a downtown building located about a mile from where next week's Republican National Convention will be held. I also heard that hurricane Issac is heading that way.

The current administration wants Americans to crowd into the city, to use mass transit, to bow to their authority, to be ready to be herded together for the slaughter when the time comes! They are putting pressure on folks that live in outlying areas for just that reason, it's easier to control those that are in high population centers! Don't be a sheep!

Tampa is run by a Democrat Mayor. In fact, it's a Democrat City.

LOL, I live in Zephyrhills, a town a little north of Tampa and we're known for our water. There used to be a sign that said "Welcome to Zephyrhills, City of Pure Water" and vandals always had the water crossed out and replaced it with "women"!

They're just full of crap! We have a lot of things to do and places to visit, we just don't have that many people living downtown. It's always been a ghost town after dark because no one wants to live there. But, we have Ybor City and Channelside that has a trolley that runs between the two. Ybor is an old Cuban part of town with lots of history, culture and drinking if that's what you're looking for.

I'm sure it is a lovely city. It sounds like you have developed your own unique way of doing things. That is what I find to be the most precious thing in the USA. I despise the idea that some people try to make all places and people fit into a single mold.

You aren't going to believe this but my granddaughters go to public school in New Tampa, a suburb, a nice diverse neighborhood with good schools. My youngest one is taking civics this year and I've been trying to get her interested in government, but you know how far that goes with a 13 year old. We were talking about going to see 2016 while she was at our house last week. So today was her first day and she called me after work and said "grandma, my civics teacher has a poster of your movie 2016 up in our classroom! She was so excited about it and so was I! I'm still in shock! She also said that he was telling them how much gas had gone up in the last three years. I think he might be a keeper!

That might have happened in the old Governor Mifflin Cumru School, that I attended for four years. It was a good school then. What a surprise to see it today, in any public school.

I told my oldest one who is going to be a junior in high school and taking American History to ask her teacher who his favorite President is and then let me know. That will tell me everything I need to know about him. She's black so I told her to tell her teacher that "she's left the liberal plantation" if he says anything about her race! My daughter was going "MOM!"

Damn! I wish I lived in a Tea Party city, I live in serious earthquake area and we have a subway running through downtown and the valley. We are supposed to get high speed rail line, I can't imagine how since our state is bankrupt. Who the hell is going to pay for it?

You got the grant that we turned down. I heard it was going up exponentially! People were so pissed off when Rick Scott turned it down but he was right, no one was going to ride it and then we were going to have to pay for it. We have buses in our county running all over the place and the only people that ride on them are the people that we give passes to with our tax dollars. We might as well just have them call us up when they need a ride and have us just go pick them up and take them. It's all the same. Just like the top half of America should just adopt a family in the bottom half and support them.

Jerry Brown took the money, nobody ask those of us who will end up paying for it. We have buses all over the place here too. We don't need this crap, just means more public employees, we can't afford the ones we have.

Well, it's a really pretty state if that's any consolation. We almost moved there when my father retired way back in 1963 because he had spent a lot of time there during the depression and had friends there. They ultimately decided to move to Florida because of the cost of living. I always wonder if I would have been different if I'd grown up there. Probably not.

No! back in that time things here in California were way different, things were more spread out, more ranches, now everything is crowded, way to many people. The school system was much better, now not so much.
