"A member of an Arkansas Tea Party group has resigned her committee seat
after she opened an event last week by telling a racially-charged joke."
Personally, I think she should have resigned. I imagine her audience must have been 'choice' for her version of comedy for her to not only feel comfortable enough to even speak such, but receive applause no less.
Tea Party folks, I mean this sincerely...
I was with the Tea Party from the beginning, I supported the original money bomb and have defended them on more than one occasion. Not of late - and this is why. When you want to know why you get a bad rap - this is why. Know that.
I would hope that anyone who disagrees with this crap would stand the hell up and have something to say about it. 'Cause I do, I have a lot to say about this. I didn't get into supporting the principles of limited govt. so I could be lumped in with the ignorant. And if you don't want to be lumped in with the ignorant - then stand up and make it known. That's all...

DDogbreath 2012/06/18 02:00:42+12The "Tea Party" has been infiltrated by brainless neo-cons. Most of the ones elected to congress "wussied out" when it came to the personal liberty issue. They voted AGAINST LIBERTY passing the NDAA.

Several of my SH friends have written blogs here over the past few years about how racism is woven into the fabric of several tea party groups. Not all. But several. Most commonly in the former confederate states/Bible Belt. And these groups tend to be the most vocal/militant. With the election of the country's first President of partial African descent - that should come as no surprise to any of us.
The typical response to these blogs from the right was/is of course to deny ANY suggestion that the tea party is racist. That we were simply "race-baiting LWNJ's". I probably don't need to rehash this for you, Tinka. I'm sure you've seen it yourself.
In any case - thank you for taking a stand on this issue. You all are right: for "the real tea party" to emerge as a meaningful third political party - these attitudes will need to be rooted out, or wholly rejected by TP leadership - as you are doing here. Otherwise - the vast majority of the country will be turned off to the party as a whole.
were they allowed access-
(I'm being blocked now.)
Now i do remember him say " has damned America"
No different than Farwel and Roberts along with all the other white evangelical leaders saying god has cursed us because we allow gays, abortion and taking god out of schools. so one black guy says god has damned America" and two white preachers or more has said god has cursed America? You tell me what the difference is, if there is any.
All of them were talking about 911
December 2007: “Barack knows what it means living in a country and a culture that is controlled by rich, white people. Hillary would never know that.”
September 2001: “The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”
January 2008: “Fact number one: We’ve got more black men in prison than there are in college. … Fact number two: Racism is how this country was founded and how this country is still run.”
is this country not controled by rich white men (majority), so if all these statements are true, then what is it exactly you have a problem with and why is it when a white person says these things you dont have a problem with it?
Please explain, because honestly i am having problems with why you would say the man is a racist, when i ahve heard white pastors and ministers of some of the largest churches in this country say far worse things? Or is it because one is black and the rest are white, because honestly you are making no sense. None at all.
