Jared Lee Loughner, the Arizona shooter who killed six people and wounded 13 others -- including Rep. Gabrielle Giffords -- pleaded guilty to his charges Tuesday. Loughner won't be executed because of his plea deal, but he will face a life sentence in prison without the opportunity for parole. Do you think the plea deal is fair? Or did you want Jared Loughner to get the death penalty?

Oh yea. Let him walk around the general population. But put a picture of that little girl in his cell.
  • Paige 2012/08/09 01:40:13
He gets to live the rest of life locked up and think about all the people he killed.
  • krayzrick Paige 2012/08/09 02:26:10
and we get to feed his sorry butt..
  • Paige krayzrick 2012/08/09 02:39:43
Yes, But it would cost much more to excute him.
  • krayzrick Paige 2012/08/09 02:48:33
    bull....I'd do it for free.
  • Paige krayzrick 2012/08/09 03:16:38
It has nothing to do with someone killing him, it has to do with all the motions that are warrented by the state that cost tax payers so much.
  • cuningl... Paige 2012/08/09 03:38:05
You can cancell all those motions with a $32 cent bullet accidently aplied as in a self defence action, lets stop all this crying liberal B/S thats costing us money we as a nation dont have and can ill afford, the only complaint will come from the crying liberals.
  • BOUNTYQ... Paige 2012/08/09 05:22:21
The only thinking he will be doing is thinking he is a failure (his words over not having succeeded in killing Giford. Also, he won't be put into GP but instead either be in the psych ward or protective custody. He will get a TV, meals, clothing, medical/dental and never have to pay rent or utilities again. Now we all get to pay to take care of him.
  • debhead Paige 2012/08/09 09:39:50
If he could kill them in the first place do you think he cares or will lose any sleep over it. Look at him. See any remorse?
  • Quazimoto 2012/08/09 01:29:42
I think the families would find closure knowing the piece of scum, that killed their loved one in cold blood, is no longer alive to be seen as a bad boy in prison.
  • Paige Quazimoto 2012/08/10 14:50:41
Actually a few of the family members were at the sentencing and asked that his life be spared and given life in prison. We will never see I to I on this because I will not support the Death Penalty so lets just agree to disagree. I respect your views even thou Idon't agee.

The man is insane. And killing him only shows we believe in state-sanctioned murder. At the same time we are condemning someone for murder. Whatever happened to all that 'compassionate' b.s. in politics, and that sleight-of-hand that says America is a Christian nation? Well, Christians, Christ would advocate compassion and preach against the cold and deliberate spilling of another's blood.

Let him rot away like Manson. Meanwhile, there will always remain the dim hope ~ probably futile, but nevertheless real ~ that he will come to regret his terrible actions. And possibly even do some small good in the world before he makes his exit. You never know.

remain dim hope futile real regret terrible actions world exit

'Many that live deserve death, and some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them, Frodo? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgment. Even the very wise cannot see all ends.'

[Yeah, I know he's not real, a fictional character ~ but he's right.]
  • Sunny Jon Bergen 2012/08/09 02:10:48
Fictional but VERY on target. We cannot see "all ends". I personally believe that we all return to "source energy", just leaving the physical and returning to purity of God, the Great Spirit, etc. hence when Gandalf returns is in in the "white light" of positive energy and his speech explains it. "Hell" is choosing the conflicts and confusions and negativity in human form.

Get back to reality. This man deserves to die in the most basest manner.
What if somebody you loved was killed by him?
  • Sunny The Inc... 2012/08/13 16:56:13
Killing him would not bring anyone back to life.
  • OGMGS1 2012/08/09 01:00:53
Fair to him, but not to the victims. Is he really nuts? Or is he just pretending?
  • ~TheDreamer~ 2012/08/09 00:37:16

  • louisa 2012/08/09 00:12:49
    electrocute his ass!
  • InoYamanaka 2012/08/09 00:05:16
Damn you. How many witnesses does he have? He didn't need to say he was guilty in order to be proven guilty? Damn it!
Please, please put him in the general prison population. Please, please, please.
  • nate 2012/08/08 23:40:26
Even though he'll be rotting away in prison, we now have to pay to keep him alive the rest of his life. We should just dump all these people on an island without supplies, and then they'll die painfully, and we won't have to pay for them either :D
  • reality... nate 2012/08/08 23:52:45
It would cost us more if he were put on death row. Think about the courts and appeals. Lots more money to keep one on death row than life in prison.

  • bakermom 2012/08/08 23:40:10
NO, it's NO, one can only hope he is killed in prison, like all the other sickos!! It's definitely is not a nice thing to say, but he deserves it! Stupid prejudiced sicko does not deserve to live and we should not have too pay to keep him alive!!
  • B.O.Plenty 2012/08/08 23:39:49
This SOB deserves to die i do not give a damn if he is mentally sick. People on this earth deserves to be able to walk around without having to worry that some sick SOB like this is going to kill you. I know all you whinning slobs are going to say i'm too harsh but tough titty suck it up.
  • ChiTownGirl 2012/08/08 23:31:19
Plea deal? Forget it. He should be executed, preferably like they did back in the day by hanging, electric chair or gas. A firing squad or lethal injection would be too kind. I would also televise it for all to see. This would serve as a good deterrent for other whack jobs.

This guys picture, twisted smile, and freakish eyes make me want to puke..
  • Kirby 2012/08/08 23:28:23
Let's ask his victims and their families if they think it's fair! If they believe so then yes it' fair, but they didn't and that's were justice fails!
  • HillaryLover 2012/08/08 23:21:15
The death penalty is archaic. It long ago outlived it's usefullness or necerssity. Most of the civilized world has come to that reality. Besides, Loughner is obviously a nut case. Should we execute the insane? Did Goebbels get it right?
  • Simi Dave Hillary... 2012/08/09 00:03:06 (edited)
    Simi Dave
Goebbels was killing innocents. So, that's a lousy analogy. "The rest of the civilized world" is going to hell
In a hand basket because there is absolutely no accountability for one's own actions. There is no punishment for crimes, even "minor" felonies like DUIs, because it's never our fault.
Any one of these nut jobs has to be insane, because sane people don't go shooting up movie theaters, grocery stores and temples if peaceful people. So from that standpoint, yeah, we SHOULD execute the insane. And no, it's not archaic. At least the ass-hat in Milwaukee that shot up the Sikh temple saved us all a truckload of money and time by offing himself.

Prediction: Capital punishment will be abolished in the USA within the next twenty-five years. Why? Because it is absolutely unnecessary and morally repugnant.

One can only hope you’re wrong, and that governors actually start getting the stones to actually execute people instead of waste millions of dollars housing these housing these dirtbags in perpetuity.
  • Hillary... Simi Dave 2012/08/10 00:44:23
But you have no problem with acquitting rogue cops who brutalize citizens? And I suspect you make a daily hike up to the Gipper's museum to pay your respects, too.

In case you haven't heard, Simi, it costs more to kill people than to execute them. With your right wing attitude, I suspect that you support Three Strike Laws, too? Just how much do you thimnk to incarcerate thousands of drug addicts, street people, and other non-violent law breakers?

The death penaty has no place in a civilized society. Most sensible and democratic countries have reached that conclusion - Great Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia (yes, Russia!), Austria, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands..

Countries that still practice this barbaric ritual - China, USA (mostly in Texas), Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria..

C'mon, Simi, do you like the company we keep?

Cops inflict corporal punishment if they deem necessary?
    Yes. I think they should.

Typo = California education? You gotta love this state!

25 years for pilfering a Snickers if that's the third strike? Yeah. Yeah you should. You shouldn't be stealing anything, regardless of dollar amount.

And, I'm not talking about incarcerating people for personal weakness. But even if you ARE an alcoholic, or are homeless, that situation isn't a crime. But, just because you're homeless doesn't give you the right to steal, sleep wherever the heck you want, pee wherever the heck you want. Being an alcoholic doesn't give you the right to drive drunk or steal or whatnot. As for addicts? They're already breaking the law by the first pill/injection, etc. incarcerate petty users, dry up the demand, put dealers out of business.

Let me guess: You ar a police officer? A sheriff deputy? An assistant district attorney? A judge? A volunteer executioner? Or, Chairman of the local Republican Committee? And, you supported either Rick Perry or Rick Santorum in the Republican primaries?

Okay, I now better understand your views - and I respect your rights to them.

You are capable of murder. I suspect most killers share your views on the subject. Scary.
  • daclaud 2012/08/08 22:59:26
I guess it's fair for him, but personally I would rather die than to be locked up for the rest of my life. Freedom is something I value highly, but whatever floats his boat. He probably likes the idea of boredom and anal sex with big black dudes because there's no way in hell he's getting out of prison unless the zombie apocalypse actually happens.
  • T 2012/08/08 22:41:01
Let him rot. The sooner they put an end to the media coverage of this psycho, the better. It would cost more to execute him anyway.
  • smartgirl 2012/08/08 22:40:01
It's really not fair but at least this person will be in jail for the rest of his miserable life.
