It has nothing to do with someone killing him, it has to do with all the motions that are warrented by the state that cost tax payers so much.

The only thinking he will be doing is thinking he is a failure (his words over not having succeeded in killing Giford. Also, he won't be put into GP but instead either be in the psych ward or protective custody. He will get a TV, meals, clothing, medical/dental and never have to pay rent or utilities again. Now we all get to pay to take care of him.

I think the families would find closure knowing the piece of scum, that killed their loved one in cold blood, is no longer alive to be seen as a bad boy in prison.

Actually a few of the family members were at the sentencing and asked that his life be spared and given life in prison. We will never see I to I on this because I will not support the Death Penalty so lets just agree to disagree. I respect your views even thou Idon't agee.

The man is insane. And killing him only shows we believe in state-sanctioned murder. At the same time we are condemning someone for murder. Whatever happened to all that 'compassionate' b.s. in politics, and that sleight-of-hand that says America is a Christian nation? Well, Christians, Christ would advocate compassion and preach against the cold and deliberate spilling of another's blood.

Let him rot away like Manson. Meanwhile, there will always remain the dim hope ~ probably futile, but nevertheless real ~ that he will come to regret his terrible actions. And possibly even do some small good in the world before he makes his exit. You never know.

It would cost us more if he were put on death row. Think about the courts and appeals. Lots more money to keep one on death row than life in prison.

Plea deal? Forget it. He should be executed, preferably like they did back in the day by hanging, electric chair or gas. A firing squad or lethal injection would be too kind. I would also televise it for all to see. This would serve as a good deterrent for other whack jobs.

The death penalty is archaic. It long ago outlived it's usefullness or necerssity. Most of the civilized world has come to that reality. Besides, Loughner is obviously a nut case. Should we execute the insane? Did Goebbels get it right?

The death penaty has no place in a civilized society. Most sensible and democratic countries have reached that conclusion - Great Britain, Australia, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Germany, Russia (yes, Russia!), Austria, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands..

Countries that still practice this barbaric ritual - China, USA (mostly in Texas), Iran, North Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Iraq, Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria..
