I do not worry but I am trying to prepare for a total economic failure.Basic math and basic logic points to that end. During the great depression people were much more independent and self sufficient than todays people.I expect total chaos and many deaths in the coming years.

You'd have to be naive not to have at least some concerns.

You think it will get better anytime soon? Or are we heading towards total economic apocalypse?

Hope springs eternal. But watching what's happening around the world has me a bit apprehensive. Maybe I'm just getting old ;)

Yeah, I don't think Social Security will even be there for me or you, also in my 30's. Not sure what the solution is... I don't think the monetary system can be saved, but I just hope it holds out until we're long gone and dead... but like you said, hope springs eternal.

I hear you. The past few years it just seems we're inching closer & closer to a real financial precipice. Like you, I'm just hoping the freefall holds off till I'm gone.

David Axelrod, his chief reelection campaign manager was saying on 6/11/2012 that he doesn't think voters will make much of President Barack Obama's remark that the private sector is doing fine.

Axelrod tells CBS's "This Morning" that what Obama meant to say was, quote, "in the last 27 months, we have created 4.3 million private sector jobs." Obama made the remark at a White House news conference, but subsequently explained it further, saying the economy needs to improve.

In his interview Monday, Axelrod said voters will make their judgments based on Obama's actions, not his words."

I say dream on Team Obama.

Back in 2003 to 2005, I predicted the economic crisis and recovery would last about 17 years. I still think that's going to be pretty accurate.

Over spending is not the answer, and we must get that through the heads of our congressmen. It's time for them to do what's truly good for America, not just what gets them re-elected

Of course I am .We are tied to European, and Asian markets whether we like it or not. Too much division in our citzens is also a condition that hurts our recovery.

I'm worried we won't have much of a future digging ourselves into more and more debt. Luckily my husband and I don't have that problem, but the country does and that effects us.

I can see sales dropping off; it costs more to get by; day by day; National sales figures have now fallen 2 straight months, and now we are to accept 800k illegals so they can have jobs that 20 million Americans can't find?

You tell me..or are you living on the road with Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band??

In the Great Depression did banks take everyone's homes away? I think that this depression, if it amounts to it, may become a total police takeover, if the banks have their way this country will have empty foreclosed homes from sea to shining sea... everyone will be homeless... so unlike the Great Depression, where people were able to at least have a home, it could be much worse this time around... if it actually becomes a Depression.

If Romney does not win, Republicants will block every bit of legislation that might help the economy, just to make Democrats look bad, If Romney wins, he will enact the Ryan Plan, which will INCREASE deficits, and likely result in a depression. Either way, we are screwed. But somehow, the wealth of the 1% will escape the carnage.

It's quite possible it could reach that point, it seems like these wars on terror & drugs, etc are bankrupting our country... I'm lucky though that I have a job, but like millions of Americans I feel like the fate of the company I work at hangs in the balance with record low profits.

Let me ask you... Do you see people selling their cars for a dollar on the street corner? Do you see people hunting pigeons from church steeples? Do you see city folk catching squirrels in their backyards to cook simply because they can not afford food to feed themselves? These were all commonplace during the actual depression. We are not, and have not been in a depression these past few years. Anyone who was alive during the depression would roll over in their grave or laugh hysterically at anyone who thinks this is another "depression".
