Everyone should. Anyone running MS products(Windows) should be aware that security sucks really bad. I refuse to run windows on the net. Anyone interested in a VERY nice Operating System that isnt windows and can be had for FREE let me know.
You got it. I run Linux Mint 12 and love it. Why pay for anything that has so many problems. If it was a car(Windows) Im sure it would have been recalled.
The only reason I still use an outdated OS like Windows is because of the apps and games that are available, but Linux itself is much more powerful then Windows
Not really. I'm pretty computer savvy and am VERY careful when I do my on-line banking. That's not to say that I am so smug and egotistical that I believe I couldn't be a victim. But you can't worry about EVERTHING in life (well, if you are the sort of person who DOES you'll eventually crack up!) so I will just continue to be careful and take all the precautions I can...
...... I'll bet a few bullet riddled bodies with a few blood covered credit cards and bank statements in their hands would curb the problem to a large degree.
............. sadly, we kiss the butt's of criminals.
I already had one of my Bank Accounts compromised . . . . It really, really, really is such a hassle . . . Opening a New Account . . . Getting New Checks . . . By including the Spouse, trying to find the convenience . . .
This is much less of a problem than the media would like you to think. This paranoia of the internet as being this new and scary entity that has powers unknown is kind of unnecessary.
Actually, I'm the one in my extended family who they call when their computer starts acting up. I've got several friends and internet acquaintances from around the globe who are in the same position. An almost universal constant is that when we go over to fix a computer it's usually because someone downloaded a bunch of games that are actually viruses and spyware. Rather than admit that they should be more careful with their browsing, the first excuse they come up with is almost always "I think I was hacked." The fact is hacking isn't all that common. Plus, if someone hacks into your computer they're doing it to steal information (usually fairly harmless information, like shopping and browsing habits for the purpose of advertising, and login information for games so they can steal any valuable in-game items you have), not usually to bog down your system with a bunch of spyware.
Some people call me every month. First they get angry with me for deleting their games. I explain to them that the games are what is ruining their system, and they say okay. A few weeks later when I come in to fix their computer again, it's the exact same games lol but of course they think they were hacked again.
Not only that also by phone as of apparently phone companies and some other companies want to give jobs to prisoners. Talk about being robbed from prison. :( I'm not sure if they are planning it in the US or not but be wormed.

But I don't sit around worrying about it, no.
