UN Ambassador Susan Rice has withdrawn her name from consideration for Secretary of State, saying the criticism surrounding her comments on Benghazi had become an “irresponsible distraction.”

“I am fully confident that I could serve our country ably and effectively in that role,” Rice wrote in a letter to President Obama today. “However, if nominated, I am now convinced that the confirmation process would be lengthy, disruptive and costly – to you and to our most pressing national and international priorities.”

Rice has been criticized by Republicans for her response to questions on the Sunday talk shows shortly after the terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi killed four Americans.

Because the Obama asked her to, he knew that if he pushed it hearing would expose the trutyh of his incompetance and lies. So he had her fall on her sword after lieing to save his re election

Susan Rice never had a chance here.
She was thrown under the bus and lost all credibility.

It is a political move. They are grooming her for the next presidency.

All she would be is a puppet that dances when Pres. Obama pulls a string. He'll find another to do the same, one that has no resume, one that has no record, one like him.
  • santa6642 2012/12/15 00:48:57
    Figured she would

Glad the snake got its head chopped off. Venomous vipers is all the DemocRats are now.
  • EddyGee53 2012/12/14 23:20:02
I hit the wrong button! Of course it wasn't a surprise she fell on her sword to draw attention from Obama and his cowardly and traitorous actions or lack of actions in Benghazi.
  • AG EddyGee53 2012/12/20 20:52:24
Yeah, I hate that you can't change your answer right away if you make a mistake. I've done that too.

    she is a fine woman

Susan Rice WAS NEVER seriously considered for the SOS assignment. The idea that she was first choice over John Kerry, Chuck Hagel, ot even, Dick Lugar, was preposterous.

That said: Kerry really doesn't want the job. His ambition level has been exhauated, and he likes his cushioned chairmanship, but he is being pressured to take it by the administrtation. Lugar, on the other hand, after losing his senate seat, might be interested in the position.
  • Stix 2012/12/14 21:39:00
It was either quite now or go before the senate and get asked questions about Benghazi that Obama did not want her to answer...

She knows at some point she will have to try on some honesty, and obama really, REALLY doesn't want honesty out there on Benghazi.
  • tdterry1999 2012/12/14 18:25:40
She doesn't want the whole story to come out.

No because she lied to the American public, weather she lied for Owebumer or just out right lied. She is the last person that should be Secretary of State.

i think it was a stand up kind of thing for her to do.

she already IS a great leader in world events.
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/14 22:23:54 (edited)
Name some of her bills she brought before the UN? any actions, deeds, or commendations she has received. I have always known her as a player on the Dems team but no distinctions that I know of. Her only qualifications seem to be female and black.
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/14 23:55:37
because that's as far as you look....

    its a shame.

    shame on YOU
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/15 00:05:42
You didn't give me any of her accomplishments; are there any?
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/15 00:09:23
    what do you care?

if you had her resume in front of you, would you even READ it?
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/15 00:26:43
I checked; she has a pretty BAD record. She has earned the nickname Lazy Susan; poor attendance; very quiet; didn't even show up for Sec. Council when Turkey sent the ship to Gaza intercepted by Israel. She left our best ally in the region to fend for themselves alone. She was in charge of the Nat. Sec. Council, Africa in the 90es; she is soft on al qaeda. Yep, those two qualifications are all she has.
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/15 00:36:17 (edited)
    checked where?

    give me a break.
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/15 11:38:38
Google and read ALL the data; not much good alot of bad. You COULDN'T name an accomplishment of hers.

It is about time; she never should have been in the consideration for the position.
  • happyman 2012/12/14 17:44:14
No, I wouldn't want to be judged by men that have done terrible things in the name of power and greed.
  • Tuna 2012/12/14 17:33:24
She was NEVER nominated for anything; how can she withdraw?? Those republicans that put Colin Powell (BLACK MAN) in that job and Condy Rice (BLACK WOMAN) are to blame.
    liberal idiots
  • Hawkeye Tuna 2012/12/14 17:42:16
It's ALWAYS racist when the left don't get their way..
  • Tuna Hawkeye 2012/12/14 17:47:48
Powell goes all the way back to what 1990?? then Condy Rice 2000? The racists have been holding back for 10-20 years for this moment, huh???
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/14 18:03:39
no, the racists are just the one's who are keeping score...
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/14 18:02:14
just when i was starting to respect you....

    horrible thing to say.
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/14 19:47:02
Do you actually think the republicans waited those 10-20 years just for Rice? If they really wanted to show racism, they would have done it then. Or JCWatts one of the most respected conservatives; why no racism then? Clarence Thomas, why no racism then? But NOW 2012, they are racist all of a sudden.

  • Tuna lee 2012/12/14 20:00:31
Rice has skeletons in her closet, going back to the Clinton administration. This has everything to do with Hillary; Hillary wants the Benghazzi investigation to just go away. Rice is/would be a lightning rod. Something is THERE to prevent Hillary from running for POTUS; a bad mistake, some where??
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/14 20:07:11 (edited)
if by "skeletons" you mean EXPERIENCE, then yes... she highly qualified for the SS job and should have it by all rights

but i understand why she withdrew.
  • Tuna lee 2012/12/14 20:09:01
No, the attacks on our military in Kenya had alot of unanswered questions.
  • lee Tuna 2012/12/14 20:11:00
