Self-defense is a God given right.

I blame ONLY the shooter in Colorado. Not Rush Limbaugh, not Barack Obama and not dreamed-up ties to the Tea Party.

I find it notable to mention Colorado is the only state in the rockies where I CANNOT legally carry nor can ANY non-resident.

In general, it seems to. It's been my experience that an adjective like "kind" is less likely to land me in the "just friends" zone. But that's just semantics, and actions speak louder than words.

It doesn't sound like this is an issue for you, but it might be worth keeping in mind: women tend to get *totally* creeped out when a guy is "too nice". Generally with good reason. Nice guys usually deserve to finish last.

I'm saying this as a recovering "nice guy". So take it with a grain of salt, of course.

That's why I'm an all-or-nothing kind of guy as I've gotten older. A few women mistook my kindness for weakness and then hated me after I threw them to the curb. I don't settle for being "just friends." Either do the job all the way through 100-percent from start to finish or don't even bother. There is no gray area with me. If there is, it's infinitesimal at best.

I'm not the media's definition of a "nice guy." I'm a "smart guy." That's why I don't date anyone under 25. I don't want some immature child who expects me to cater to her. Sure, I'll have a fling with a younger woman, but women under 25 aren't relationship material for someone like me. I expect them to get all the childish games and drama out of their system if they want to be with me. I may be lonely, but I'm not desperate.

And I wish more guys were willing to show the guts and wisdom that you just did.

People like you make me proud to be a male in the human race. Please keep this attitude alive.

God gives us the right to defend ourselves, our family, and our property:
"If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed. "If the sun has risen on him, there shall be guilt for his bloodshed. He should make full restitution; if he has nothing, then he shall be sold for his theft. (Exodus 22:2-3 NKJV)

Wouldn't the whole point of Concealed Firearms be to defend yourself and others from incidents such as this? What a tragedy! banning guns will not solve the issue, the guy was hellbent on slaughtering a bunch of people, he would have gotten the guns illegally if he were unable to legally.

Keeping them legal is easier to track and regulate them!

You betcha. If my wife was walking alone or anywhere and some guy wants to rape or kill her, she should have a gun.

*If* she's ready, willing, and able to use it.

Nothing against your wife, just a general observation.

If you aren't ready to take the Power of God (i.e. life and death) into your hands and *use* it without a second thought (and know that the consequences may well be dire), then you're better off without one. Otherwise, you're really just handing a determined attacker another weapon.

I have a Concealed Weapons and Firearms permit and was carrying when I went to see The Dark Knight this week. Honest people need to be able to defend themselves.

A 71 year old man in Ocala, FL saved lives when he shot 2 armed robbers in an Internet Cafe. Had he not been there and armed, innocent people would have been killed.

A criminal by choice or by their own nature will not follow the law. So no matter how many gun control laws that are passed the crooked will find a way to violate them. Ask the Citizens of Chicago how gun control is working out?

Excellent point. Since passing the nations strictest gun control laws, Chicago's murder rate has gone up 38%. Why? Because the honest people are now helpless to the armed criminals.

The more responsible trained gun owners with concealed weapons permits in America, less chance of terrorists, idiots and criminals attacking people in public. Superior firepower = peace and tranquility. Not to mention a better feeling of safety and security for all. Granted, my favorite weapon against criminals, etc... is an 8 foot long Impaling Stake. Followed by a sword. But, I do have firepower as a back-up!

He planned around the gun laws in his state...which does not allow Concealed handguns in the theater...so he knew no in there would offer resistance to his attack....

Making concealed pistol carry everywhere may have prevented this terrible huge loss of life...

People talk about the Wild West. But they almost never stop to think about how much less violent life was back then.

It's been a while since I looked at the numbers (and don't have much interest now). In his notorious lifetime, the legendary Billy the Kid probably killed (all total) fewer people than this monster did in CO.

Guess which one will still be famous in 200 years.

Especially since we just got rid of the Concealed Carry permit requirement in my state. We've had open cary for a long time. The bad guys will always get guns... I took instruction in an NRA class before I purchased my weapons, and they are for self-defese and target shooting only (I'm a member of a women's shooting team). What happened in Colorado (where I was born) and to Gabrielle Giffords (in Arizona, where I live now) is the fault of the shooters and them alone.

Just to clarify: it's the fault of crazies who are always be with us.

If actual, law-abiding shooters (the kind who believe in self-defense) had been present, the death toll would have been much lower.

The MSM never reports on stories where some random lunatic is stopped by an individual who's prepared to defend himself (or herself...I don't care about PC, but being armed is really even more important for women) and the people nearby.

Guns are for weak people that don't want to watch the people they are killing die. There is a disconnect from the killing causing people to kill more. After you've felt the blood of your victim flow over your hands you will really think before you kill. Also you can't be a lazy asshate you have to ne phisical

So your saying that an old WW2 veteran is weak if he uses a gun to stop a 26 year old who is trying to rob him? How about the 30 year old woman who leaves work late and is attacked in the parking garage and nobody is there to hear her scream for help. Just so you know, I'm a 240lb weight lifter who has been lifting since the 70's, an ex Army Ranger, have studied martial arts, and I carry concealed and I used my gun to kill an armed intruder in my own home.
