The Violence Against Women laws provides programs and services, including:
Community violence prevention programs
Protections for victims who are evicted from their homes because of events related to domestic violence or stalking
Funding for victim assistance services, like rape crisis centers and hotlines

What most people tend to forget is how little time has actually passed since women have had ANY rights. Remember it has been less than 100 years since women have been able to vote! It wasn't until the 1970's that it became more mainstream for women to even aspire to have careers!
