Are you gonna vote for someone you hate simply because the other candidate is worse?

Or are you gonna vote for someone you like even if the chances of them winning is near zero? why or why not? I hate both Obama and Romney but I think Obama is not as bad as Romney. I like Gary Johnson and Jill Stein but theyre 3rd party candidates and 3rd party candidates never win. So should I just hold my nose and vote for someone I hate so his opponent who I hate even more doesnt get elected.
