For. Marriage is not just a religious rite in this country, it's a grant of extraordinary social, legal, and financial benefits. I haven't seen one traditional marriage advocate turn down those benefits to make it a purely religious rite again.
I'm against it I think marriage is between a man and woman but if two people want to love each other then I don't have a say. The heart wants aha the heart wants.
You don't have an I don't care button but since I have a gay married daughter and I don't like bullies who feel the need to push their ideals about marriage on to others, look everyone should have a 50/50 shot at marriage.
Marriage is a religious Ceremony Sanctioned by God, A man and Woman asking divine guidance throughout their lives together, why should those seeking an immoral lifestyle be allowed to Desecrate a Holy Ceremony? If I were King I would declare, Back to the Closet ,where you belong !
Because it's none of my buisness if people want to get married. Why should I stop them and how would it affect me if they were together? It wouldn't. Love is love
I'm for the separation of church and state. Let the state take care of the legal issues of a legal union and let the church deal with marriage. All of us are equal under our laws. If a religion wants to discriminate so be it.
We allegedly reside in a free society here in the United States of America. As such, consenting adults should be free to act as their conscience dictates. Provided, of course, that the rights of others are not unduly infringed upon.
Hang on a minute-isn't it usually the case that you need a valid reason to outlaw something, not to make it legal? The burden lies with the bigots, and the case they've laid out is rife with fallacy and insecurity.
I see no reason to deprive these people of the ability to marry. It doesn't hurt my marriage if they do -- actually, it doesn't hurt me in any way.
Well, except it IS kinda creepy when a guy talks about his husband, or a woman talks about her wife... but creepiness is not really enough reason to deprive someone else of a chance to be happy.
Because they are trying to force their beliefs on society. They do not like the results of democratic elections, so they use underhanded methods to go against the will of the people. And mostly because their groups like GLSEN founded by a NAMBLA member are going after the children
Sadly they don't realize they are mere pawns being played like a cheap drum in a gay pride parade as they blindly march to the beat of a much larger agenda and will be discarded if not eliminated after they are no longer useful. In reality they are unknowingly promoting their own demise.
Gays aren't another species. If you're against it, you should loose your right to marriage, or any other right they don't have. See how it makes YOU feel.
I am for gay marriage because there is nothing intrinsically harmful with it and the only arguments I have heard against it are religiose and because I am an atheists the religiose arguments have no influence on what my oppinion is. It also seems that some people who are against it are ignorant of the fact that there are legal benefits of marriage and not everyone gets married at a church by a minister but some people get married by a justice of the piece at a court house. It is not my business who other people marry so long as each party of the marriage is a consenting addult and I don't think people should even be limited to marrying one person people should be able to marry multiple people so long as all the people in the marriage are consenting addults. My only business when it comes to marriage is who I choose to marry not who others want to marry unless they marry someone who does not consent to the marriage or choose to marry me.
"Why don't you people just go get married and STFU already?"
You do realise that not everyone who is arguing for gay marriage is gay or lesbian? I mean because the percent of people who are for gay marriage is higher than the percent of people who are gay or lesbian. In fact I myself am one of the people who is for gay marriage but is not gay. I am for gay marriage because I believe in equality not because I am gay as I am strait. Anyway gays are asking for people to accept their life style not approve of it.
But... if a specific church doesn't want to perform a ceremony, it shouldn't have to. Civil unions with all legal protections should be fine if there's no willing church.
